Little test tile piece. 🦇 is #Amaco SM Black with VUGS on top for faux majolica. Vase is Purple Crystal, eyes are Obsidian, nose and ears same VUG mixture. Back is Ritual's Black Puff (do not like)

It was a hot but fun weekend, now back to the grind. I’m hoping to fire off a bisque kiln later in the week once my stuff is confirmed dry. In the meantime time I’ll throw some mugs & cups so I can get a little head start for my next kiln load.

More tests with clay bodies. This time the rainforest / snow combo on tan, dark brown, & red clay. I like the green on the tan clay but I love the depth of the green on the red clay.

A couple ash trays with the same glaze but different clay. I tried it on red, dark brown, & white, overall pretty similar results!

This week has been the best weather so far. I almost wanna drag my wheel outside to do some outside throwing. Which is great timing because I just cleaned my deck off & power washed it so it’s nice & clean.

I mixed up a fresh batch of Seamist dipping glaze and wanted to run some tests with my most commonly used glazes. I think all three are winner but the Smokey Merlot is my fav.

A couple satin matte white sponge holders on two different clay bodies - Standard 225 & Scott’s Red. I find it interesting that the clay body doesn’t have that much of an effect on the white glaze.

sgraffito finished. next steps - dry, bisque and a last firing with a layer of clear glossy glaze. it’ll be a rich dark red with white velvet underglaze details. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
