Schwarzman was raised in a Jewish family in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, the son of Arline and Joseph Schwarzman. His father owned Schwarzman's, a former dry-goods store in Philadelphia, and was a graduate of the Wharton School.

Another transcendent night as the Josienne Clarke album launch tour, hit Worcester. The film and chat and gig are becoming a little essay on the nature of honesty in art, and it’s all rather moving. A marketing exercise in refusing to be part of all that.

On the morning of Oct. 3, 2025, Subramanyam "Subu" Vedam walked out of Huntingdon State Correctional Institution, the Pennsylvania prison that had confined him for more than four decades. The 64-year-old had spent nearly his entire adult life behind bars for a murder he did not commit. His conviction had been vacated weeks earlier after a court found that prosecutors had concealed evidence that would have dismantled the state's case. The Centre County district attorney formally withdrew all charges a day before his expected release. But Subu never made it home. As he stood on the threshold of freedom, officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement were waiting. Acting on a decades-old deportation order, they detained him and transferred him to the Moshannon Valley Processing Center, an ICE detention facility in central Pennsylvania.

Mrs Whiskers on my shoulder in my hallway, in all her perfect fluffy tuxedoness (it is so a word!) "She's not my cat," I lie. I may be her favourite human. Neville being a bit French Impressionist at the end of the summer, sprawled among bark chips, thistles, and grasses at the edge of the park. A sleek black and white cat surrounded by lush green plants, his eyes closed. Probably dreaming of birds, the little shit. A mysterious yet clearly beautiful soft grey tabby in the street demanding head-scritches. Soft and grey, slightly darker near her tail and with a little pink-brown nose. I don't know her name, she never gave it, just demanded pleasure and attention before leaving. Professor Abigail Huntingdon, a golden hamster with a Doctorate in Political History. She wears a crown of black feathers and carries a beaded black feather fascinator like a sceptre of office. She was a gift from my dad to mark the passing of my golden hamster pet Shaolin, of whom he was quite fond after it had bitten him and "shown some character." He rarely gave gifts or attention so she's quite special, particularly as the gift came some ten years after Shaolin had died and I was thirty-six at the time... Still, Professor Abigail Huntingdon has pride of place on the shelf now. Her decoration? Oh, that came later. She dances on the weekends to make ends meet. College tuition didn't come cheap, you know.
