I love D'Compose because I love a romantic

Inhumanoids (1986) from Toei Animation

Another entertaining and informative Buzz Dixon interview. Always fun to hear him explain ANYTHING. Not just the show specifics (G.I.JOE, Inhumanoids, Thundarr, Filmation) but what writers could and couldn't do in different situations. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKn7...

Frickin'!

D'Compose HAUNTED me for so long. I thought I dreamed them! Then I finally found and re-watched Inhumanoids after decades! It's NUTS but FUN.

I don't know how young I was when I watched Inhumanoids, but I know I was _way_ too young when I watched Heavy Metal, so it fits the pattern.

Wishing everyone a healthy and happy Halloween from the horror toys cabinet!

Inhumanoids?!? The evil that lies within?!

(also, I had that same Boglin up top! 🙂)

Inhumanoids Tendril! My Little Cthulhu! Not only is this vast villainous vegetable virtually invincible but any part of him that is cut from the rest will grow into ANOTHER Tendril. Speaking of other Tendrils, there’s an early variant with longer tusks which I shamefully don’t own #vintagetoytuesday

Inhumanoids Granites - The Race! I think this oddly named generic Granite actually looks more distinctive & individual than Granok. The sandstone effect is quite nice. Sadly they only made two Granites though I guess you could army build this one. Shame the aging rubber neuters the transformation

Inhumanoids Redsun! As the Redwood scout he’s used to making like a tree and getting out of here. Young, rash & impulsive, he longs to go into battle though he’s better suited to spy work. Looks a bit like he’s made out of cheese

Share a cartoon from the past that kids today probably have never heard of (or 95% of adults too)

Inhumanoids

This villain had legit scary powers: could zombie via touch, and open their ribcage and store living things inside

Inhumanoids Bright! Dr Derek Bright is the inventor of the Earth Corps gear, a surprising ladies’ man & master of nominative determinism. His claws look more useful for light gardening than digging through rock though he manages. His file card states he’s disabled though the toon didn’t go with that

I really wanted to like the Inhumanoids. Guys in power armor fighting what looked like Eldritch Abominations? Heck yeah! The head and helmet sculpts of the heroes looked SO goofy though. It's probably best that they came out when my family decided I was too old for them to buy me toys anymore

If you wondered what the gun Auger has is it is a Masters of the Universe Classics Optikk gun. The Earth Corps would often wield extra guns in the show due to their lack of firepower & Optikk’s is the right size & an incredibly close match. The Weapons Pak version even matches Auger’s colours!

Inhumanoids Auger! Eddie “The Fist” Auguter is a former boxing champ & current Earth Corps mechanic (+ president elect!). Hot-headed yet dependable though prone to throwing his shoe at the TV when Hector Ramirez is on air. His environmental suit looks distinctly biomechanical compared to the rest

Inhumanoids Redwoods - The Race! This slightly clumsily named generic army builder might look a bit stony rather than woody (maybe auditioning for the Granites as they have better health insurance) but it camouflages very nicely against lighter barked trees. The grey really sets off the glowing eyes
October 23, 2025 at 5:00 PM
Inhumanoids Granok! One of the more important Granites though not strictly the leader (they have quite a complicated political system). As ever the glow-in-the-light eyes are spectacular. The production head is very different from the prototype but the rocky skull is cool
October 22, 2025 at 6:00 PM
Inhumanoids Metlar! The Lord of Infernac rules the Inhumanoids with an iron fist (possibly literally given his metal content). Huge & impressive though suffers with mild Gold Plastic syndrome in places (especially the head/neck). Speaking of his head, his face is inexplicably based on John Madden
October 21, 2025 at 6:22 PM
Inhumanoids Liquidator! Jonathan M Slattery might look doofy in his bizarre environmental suit but it helped him impress movie star Stella Blaze enough to marry him! This expert chemist can whip up a variety of useful liquids from the chemicals stored in his leg drums to dampen down the Inhumanoids!
October 20, 2025 at 8:00 PM
Inhumanoids Redlen! The wise leader of the heroic Redwoods is named like an old ginger bloke from down the pub. Like all the Redwood toys (who are identical aside from the colour) he transforms from tree stump to tree monster then grows into a taller tree monster. The glowing eyes work really well!
October 19, 2025 at 6:00 PM
Here’s Redlen boxed! The Inhumanoids packaging is very striking. You can see from the art & catalog that The Redwoods were drastically changed from prototype to release. The lanky protos were cartoon accurate with separate heads but were changed to stockier bulldog-faced imps with faces in the trunk

Inhumanoids Terrascout! This underearth scout craft is used for tunnelling & tangling with Inhumanoids. It’s the only thing in the Inhumanoids line with a gun so it’s probably in high demand in a fight. In the show the roof comes off & flies though the clips are very thin so I wouldn’t recommend it
October 18, 2025 at 6:00 PM
I’ve also got the box for the Terrascout which is quite pretty
October 18, 2025 at 8:00 PM
Inhumanoids Trappeur! The Trappeur is used for both exploring the bowels of the Earth & quite literally grappling with the Inhumanoid turds that live there! The huge grabby claw & grappling hook do a lot of heavy lifting as the Trappeur lacks guns. The rear section launches a lovely hover pod
October 17, 2025 at 6:30 PM
Inhumanoids Magnakor! This magnetic Mutore splits into the cold & logical Crygen & the fiery & emotional Pyre. They form 2 poles of a living magnetic field which is the only thing that can contain Metlar. Pyre is an articulated figure though Crygen is basically just the front of a Pretender shell

May whoever came up with "D'Compose" from The Inhumanoids never get any rest in this life or the next
