Looks like I will likely be able to start my lobe tunnel gauges pierced at a 6g (4mm) so it will be a lot shorter to stretch to 00g, with 3-5 months healing and likely that same interval again before beginning to stretch. Still way faster and easier than starting at 18ga though. I am excited! ❤️

Versus the system being unable to reconvene study sections until Feb because a 2-day interval cannot be found earlier. Or going to asynchronous review (🤮). Or cramming the apps into the *next* rounds normally scheduled in Feb-Mar.

So true. I also think that most people who use historical data to predict things don't really have a concept of the Prediction Interval and how very wide is immediately gets compared to a Confidence Interval.

And day to day, life's a hard job, you get tired, you lose the pattern. You need distance, interval. The way to see how beautiful the earth is, is to see it as the moon. The way to see how beautiful life is, is from the vantage point of death.

We're playing for £50 in Bin It to Win It tonight! And we'll see which stand has the loudest fans as Whitley Wolf plays North vs South straight afterwards!

It’s centered around what is formally a posterior mean wrt a symmetric Beta prior. I think if you use the mean +/- 2 sd heuristic you’ll back out the Beta(2,2) prior. But i don’t think it is the highest density credible interval or necessarily corresponds to nicely-rounded posterior quantiles.

But we are.

I use the youngest generation’s numbers to avoid “being left handed is the devil.”

That puts trans folks at about 3%. Intersex conditions account for up to 1.7% depending on what definition you’re using.

Assuming no overlap and a 95% confidence interval, we’re all outliers.

Just a sneaky shot in the interval. 🤫

I don’t like ‘undershot’ as a criterion. I want non-coverage in each tail to be very close to alpha/2. And Wilson works fine for large n so not need to be switching. R’s Hmisc::binconf is an old function that computes Wilson’s interval. Also there is no excuse for continuing use of symmetric CIs

according to the docs, by default it's Beta(0.5, 0.5), highest posterior density interval. sdorairaj.r-universe.dev/binom/doc/ma...

Wilson is just a Bayes credible interval with a Beta(2,2) prior, right?

US Gun ownership was a significant predictor of firearm homicide rates (incidence rate ratio = 1.009; 95% confidence interval = 1.004, 1.014). This model indicated that for each percentage point increase in gun ownership, the firearm homicide rate increased by 0.9%.

The Relationship Between Gun Ownership and Firearm Homicide Rates in the United States, 1981–2010
Objectives. We examined the relationship between levels of household firearm ownership, as measured directly and by a proxy—the percentage of suicides committed with a firearm—and age-adjusted firearm homicide rates at the state level. Methods. We ...

I say ask 11 Bayesians to calculate the interval and let’s drink beer 🍺 and discuss why each one is different but I can use the probability word when describing them. 😉
