There are a whole lot of obgyns that do not believe that the cervix has nerve endings and that it doesn't hurt to do things like biopsies or IUD placements.

Why don’t we get an option for anesthesia when getting an IUD implanted ??? Why isn’t there male birth control yet???? Why is it that all things related to women’s health seem like torture practices but at the same time it’s grossly understudied??????

The article goes to great lengths to talk about perceived side effects of being on hormones for birth control but when she goes back on an IUD after a break, there’s no follow up as to whether these depressive symptoms came back. Side effects in themselves do not negate the benefits for most woman

It honestly felt like when I was on the pill,aka it didn't do anything for me.Hormones/periods were outta wack .I'm just so thankful I was able to get a hysterectomy 😭 and my mom was just recently prescribed the pill even thought she has an iud .And her cramping actually got worse,which I feel bad 😭

No one would even entertain the idea so I went with the IUD. There is a definite lack of easily accessible information on women's health. My trans friends have a significantly better understanding of hormone levels than I had. The gatekeeping definitely hits us all though.

I switched to an IUD following a stroke. The determined probable cause of which was birth control paired with a history of migraine. I wanted (and loved) the bodily autonomy I had with it. What I really wanted after the stroke was a hysterectomy but I was only 30.

I stopped teaching in part because it deepened my undiagnosed depression and I was fantasizing driving in ways very hazardous to my health, and she doesn't acknowledge any of that.

Of course, she also blames everything on my IUD, from depression to migraines to constipation, despite me having issues in all but constipation since at least my 1st born, and I found journal entries from over 10 years ago and poems I wrote exactly describing depression, and also I stopped teaching.
