(KAJO-KEJI COUNTY) – Sick residents in Kajo-Keji County say they are facing life threatening challenges due to the poor state of roads linking their area to Juba and Yei, making it nearly impossible to reach hospitals for proper medical care. Many patients say they rely only on divine help or face premature death because of the poor road connections. Residents are appealing to the government to urgently rehabilitate the Kajo Keji - Juba highway and the Kajo Keji - Lainya - Morobo Yei highway, which have become impassable. According to local health authorities, the salary delays and lack of essential medical supplies have seriously affected health service delivery across the county. George Gonda Elia, a senior health official in Kajo-Keji, told Access Radio on Tuesday that most staff members at both the county hospital and primary health care centres now report to work only twice a week.

The approval was made during an extraordinary Council of Ministers meeting held on Friday. The meeting was chaired by the Governor of Central Equatoria State, Lt Gen Rabi Mujung Emmanuel. The proposal was presented by Stephen Lado Onesimo, the State Minister of Trade and Industry. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Patrick Nyarsuk, the Minister of Information and Communication, said GTC is an international company involved in mining, large infrastructure projects, investment and project financing.
