Now that I have the technique down for this size of yarn, I will absolutely be making more of them. After all, I have three other colours to use up, and only used half the skein for this one!

A completed Bewind Hat in the absolutely lovely Bernat Wavelength yarn. The purple "Tanzanite" colours provide a gorgeous gradient in shades of purple from the ribbing at the bottom, all the way to the smoothly-formed crown at the top. Even the twists spiralling up the hat are a lovely contrast with the rest of the hat.

Anyway, while I try to locate some suitable knitting needles to finish off the decreases, I've already completed the first two rounds of decreases on the 9" set I'm currently using.

I *may* be able to decrease just once more before I absolutely need the DPNs or equivalent.

My Bernat Wavelength "Tanzanite" (variegated and subtly marled purple) Bewind Hat pattern. The ribbing is complete, along with the body, and the decreases at the top have begun. Not much longer before I have to switch to a different needle-management technique.

This weekend was like -2°F here. Low of -6°. I was not at all looking forward to going outside. But I had my new #knittedhat and this awesome #pompom on top of it, so I put on like 3 base layers and hoped for the best!

Man, this much progress would have taken me quite a bit longer with DPNs, I'm pretty sure. But with appropriately-sized circular needles, it's basically a breeze!

Time to try more circular needle projects!

Here, I've switched from 4.5 for the ribbing to 6mm for the body.

A knitted hat partway completed, with chunky ribbing pulled in tight, capped by the beginnings of the twisted spiral of the Bewind Hat pattern above it. Circular needles are holding all the stitches ready for their turns, while the shades of purple slowly fades between various tones, from dark, to more brown, to paler tones, and finally (so far) to a lovely, deep shade.

It's taken me a while to get around to it, but I've *finally* started using this Bernat Wavelength in "Tanzanite".

But this time, I have two sizes of circular knitting needles, of a length short enough to actually use to make a hat! And it's a *breeze* so far!

Bernat Wavelength yarn in a lovely shade of deep purple is being knitted into a 2-by-2 ribbing, with a roughly foot-long set of circular knitting needles. A single stitch marker indicates where the start of each round is, and a larger diameter set of circular needles peeks out from below.

Huh. My tensions screwed up on the orange one. No idea how they kept loosening on me. When I was finishing off the decreases, I tightened things back up, and got a peak in the middle.

It's VERY tempting to leave it as-is...

Two knitted Bewind Hats using different colours of the same variegated yarn. The blue one on the right is the previous one I'd made, with a nicely-rounded top. The orange one on the left is the one I completed today, and due to my tensions *completely* screwing up partway through the decreases, it has a nearly pointed top in the middle.

My husband requested a repair to his running hat. Result = 2 knits that flew off the needles. Fjord hat by Saskie&co using Kambgarn &, Jacques Cousteau Hat by Lalla Pohjanpalo using Rico Design Creative Melange Aran Wonderball colourway 18.

No, I won't be writing the pattern down. Not convinced it's interesting enough to warrant that. Though maybe I can be convinced...

My completed Santa hat, on my head. The broad, cream-coloured ribbing is around most of my head, leaving very little cap to pass the crown of my head. The rest of the cap is long enough to allow the cream, knitted bauble to dangle at the side of my head, just barely below the edge of the ribbing.

Using the linked guide, I'm halfway finished the bauble now!

Given how stretchy knitting is compared to crochet, it's far, FAR more forgiving than the latter is, as the pattern is TECHNICALLY just a polygonal diamond shape.

The point of the conical cap on my Santa hat is now capped by a hemisphere. I've switched back to the cream yarn, and am using a pattern for a knitted ball, which I will then fill with stuffing.

My knitted Santa hat standing vertically on a table. Currently standing almost twenty inches tall, and tipping sideways just a bit (likely due to the electronic stitch counter tucked into the circular knitting needle cable holding the stitches at the top together). The blue life-line holding stitches safely in case I needed to backtrack is only about three or four inches up from the top of the ribbing, showing just how much progress I've been able to make after previous pictures.

Stitch-wise, I'm about halfway done. At least, if I keep doing a single decrease per round.

The original target was 4 stitches before switching to the bauble on the end, but maybe I should aim for 12 and deliberately tie the stitches together, once I've started the bauble?

Interestingly, while I've been using DPNs (Double-Pointed Needles) to work on it, for transport, I'm knitting off those and onto a set of interchangeable knitting needles (hence the caps), then back off once I start working on it again.

My knitted Santa hat, with its cream ribbing folded in half, and burgundy conical cap about six inches tall so far. The working stitches are being held by a knitting cable with caps, and red plastic stitch markers are indicating the lines between where the four double-pointed needles were placed. A line of blue yarn can be seen weaving its way through one round of stitches as a life-line. If I encounter any problems with what I've done after that point, I can remove the needles and pull the yarn out to go back to that point.

Cast on the Fjord hat by Saskie & co from her Arctic Knits book. I knitted this hat last year for my bestie, this time round I opted to use the darker colour as the background. Using Kambgarn which is sold in supermarkets in Iceland.
