#ks3
I mean, this was over a decade ago.

It is on the KS3 curriculum in HS. Tbf, it was mostly adults who seemed unaware. The kids all knew. It wasn't on the curriculum years ago.

Remembrance Day is a significant moment in the life, experiences and history of KES. The Headteacher led a special assembly for KS4 and KS5 students today. Assemblies were held for KS3 students. The Last Post was played and the School fell silent for two minutes at 11am. KES will never forget.

Another, from another communal paper, who did not run a story, just desperately wanted to do a hatchet job on me by getting me to say “the slave trade is more important than the Holocaust” and just would not accept “in practice, you cannot meet the KS3 requirement properly without doing the trade”.

Looking at my kid's KS3 computer science homework, it seems possible they learn more useful things about computing from downloading and playing Minecraft mods

Assessment:
- Apparent difference between review team and DfE on future of P8. How secure is commitment to EBacc subjects in the measure?
- Coherence of review’s proposal for KS3 English and Maths diagnostic tests with DfE’s plans for a reading test. Joined-up thinking?

When I was teaching, we noticed the younger (KS3) kids would get hyper when it was windy. A bit like torties.

Does anyone know what resources are incoming from Axiom for @mathsweekengland24.bsky.social ? I’m trying to see if I can formulate a MWE lesson for both KS3 and KS4 classes and there’s nothing there suitable yet so not sure whether to start from scratch or wait?

As an example, you can go through all ks3/ks4 content without ever defining what a plane is, and what it means for two planes to be parallel...whereas this was probably something i was shown early in my secondary education...

I'm not alone in having real concerns about the literacy standards of our student population in English schools. However two things worth considering for the secretary of state for education: 1) our literacy standards are amongst the highest in the world 2) that gain is post abolition of KS3 exams.

…so is reading vital, absolutely agree that it is…is more testing in KS3 and false targets for phonics the way to get there, no it’s nonsense.

A great summary of why deliberate and joined up thinking of the curriculum is needed within every subject. The demands of the KS4 specifications would just be too much if you hadn’t already sequenced KS3 to lay the foundations and bridge the KS2 to 4 gap.

There’s general agreement that KS3 is not as challenging as it might be.

There are always examples of great practice, but for the most part, KS3 has had less attention than other key stages....
