It is often described as a clever political move by Republicans to stop leftist legislation instead of the blunt tool of a minority party.

ICE has been targeting young kids for months, separating families and instilling fear.

Tell Congress to pass legislation ensuring no child is arrested without a warrant and coerced to give up their rights by immigration agents.
ICE: Stop Terrorizing Children
ICE is traumatizing children as young as 14 – trying to strip them of their rights while they're without attorneys or family to help them. Take action against these horrific abuses now.

Btw this isn’t all that tough to see.

Trump’s only piece of legislation in 1.0 was Paul Ryan’s tax bill.

And his only legislation in 2.0 is an extension of Paul Ryan’s tax bill funded with safety net cuts.
This is exactly correct. Trump governs like Paul Ryan with a racism fetish & an organized crime family to run.

Trump hasn’t really remade the GOP at all except to funnel its efforts and $ to himself and elevate its worst elements.

The filibuster requires 60 votes in the 100-member Senate to advance most legislation. Currently, Republicans control the Senate with a 53–47 majority and hold a narrow 219–213 edge in the House.

Nah.

The purpose of the filibuster is not to give the minority party power. If that were the case, why allow obstructionism to get in the way of important legislation?

The actual purpose is to give either party an excuse for not passing popular legislation, which their donors detest.
They just don't wanna lose the fillabuster because they have used it WAY more than Dems and they know it. That said, DO IT COME ON

Wab Kinew's gov't tabled bill 50 in Manitoba that won't allow any future provincial gov't to use the notwithstanding clause for provincial legislation without going through the courts first. This is what a true leader does for his constituents. Alberta's and Quebec's leadership pale in comparison.

on one hand, the next year of legislation (if they kill the filibuster) is going to be batshit insane

on the other, it's likely going to cause a much larger thermostatic backlash given the changes they want to make
