Some people felt like they had made their point and just wanted to stop, others wanted to stay the course and drive the point home further. Now some are very angry and others are defensive! Not everyone can grasp these nuances but we long time observers of the legislative game know what's up.

I have been part of legislative campaigns that only worked because people called their Senators

It might not feel like you have power, but you do. It might not always work, except when it does

There’s still time to call senators. Let me explain. Sorry not sorry about the cat. He’s also really upset about this deal.

Baldwin, Padilla, and Murphy all have fairly substantial legislative backgrounds for Senators. So does Van Hollen, though he seems to be a little bit more in the loner camp.

The amendment votes are over and they are back to voting on the "deal" to reopen the gov't

There are already 60 votes in favor so the 8 Dems from last night didn't change their votes

I'm not sure if this is workable under budget & legislative rules, but the idea the fight isn't going to be fought for a whole year is wrong.

I remember him getting pantsed in every major legislative battle we’ve had since he succeeded Harry Reid. I still don’t understand how he’s lasted this long.

The shutdown deal includes a ban on hemp products that none of its negotiators debated in public.

Disappointing that only 24 senators voted against killing an amendment to strike that ban.

Wow, Dems lassoed that electoral mandate into an interesting legislative capitulation. Fascinating strategy which seems counterintuitive.

One of the first legislative packages he lobbied for and ushered through Congress to the President’s desk was the infrastructure bill.

He’s often been called the *architect* of that bill.

Is the legislative solution to all of this just as simple as the next D trifecta legalizing it nationally? Or is there some more nuance and complexity needed here?
