A quintessentially DeCoteauian image from the maestro's decent Laserblast do-over, ALIEN ARSENAL (1999).

I remember Starlog hyping up Laserblast like it was going to be bigger than Star Wars and I looked at the SFX stills they had in the article and immediately booed out on that idea.

Day 20 - Foes (1977)

Personally, I think this film rules, but I can assume that most viewers would consider it the cheapest and most boring thing they've ever seen.

Dank Laserblast meets Lucifer Rising vibes.

[alt video description: Two comic relief deputies from the film Laserblast, as seen on MST3K.

One deputy resembles Hank Williams III due to his beard & build; Crow thus riffs: "I just feel like you might not be ready for some football."

Servo, Mike, and Crow are in silhouetted theater seats.]

"Hollywood only makes sequels now." If that's so, I want these sequels:

- Saturn 5.1
- Black Hole 2: Event Horizon
- Event Horizon 2: The Black Hole
- Another Brother from Another Planet
- The Second-to-Last Starfighter
- Laserblast 2: Blast Harder!

Laserblast (1978) PG
Director: Michael Rae

A mostly shirtless 25 year old "teenage" man/boy finds an alien weapon in the desert and quickly goes on a car exploding rampage

The animation is cool, but overall it's B movie sci-fi garbage.

MST3K had already done this one

Jul 8 in University District History: "Laserblast" and "Food of the Gods" are low-budget sci-fi cheese double-feature at W 5th Ave Drive-In, 900 W 5th Ave. In 1978.

Laserblast: Roddy McDowall's presence is never unwelcome in anything, otherwise this is just a big giant pile of nothing. Onward.
Since I was already halfway there anyway marathoning all those Roger Cormans, my new project is to watch all the original versions of every MST3K-featured B-film. Starting with the very first, The Crawling Eye (a/k/a The Trollenberg Terror) & already going, "This is quite good, actually..."

I saw Laserblast in the theater and recently rewatched it because I barely remembered anything other than some laserblasting and stop motion. It's not good but anything with stop motion gets a thumbs up from me.

So much word.

Gah, to think of all the times I saw Pod People or Cave Dwellers or Santa Claus Conquers the Martians or Giant Gila Monster or Manos or Mitchell or Santa Claus or Incredible Melting Man or Laserblast or Wizards of the Lost Kingdom or Mac and Me or Beyond Atlantis or Dr. Mordrid or...

Now playing: MST3K vs. Laserblast

Gonna close out my evening with what was intended to be the series finale of MST3K back on Comedy Central.

Thankfully, the finality didn't stick.

Anywho, love all the callbacks & running gags in this. They went out SWINGING.

Great last at-bat for Trace Beaulieu.

My favorites change every day and this is in no real order (except Pod People being my all time favorite) but
1. Pod People
2. Puma Man
3. Mitchell
4. Manos
5. Laserblast
You know what? I love this idea. We can turn this into a quote-post response kinda thing!

What's your top 5 MST3K?

I have some overlap here, which is because those episodes are so damn good! I'll go:

#1 Jack Frost
#2 Mitchell
#3 The Final Sacrifice
#4 Space Mutiny
#5 The Magic Voyage of Sinbad
#1 Riding With Death
#2 Mitchell
#3 Catalina Caper
#4 Space Mutiny
#5 Teenagers from Outer Space

What’s your top 5 MST3K?

Werewolf, Laserblast, The Final Sacrifice, Prince of Space, Pumaman, Mitchell, Hobgoblins. All classics you can't go wrong with.

Laserblast, a trashy sci-fi B-movie from 1978, desperately trying to cash in on the Star Wars phenomenon. Sure it was bad but it left an impression on this teenager back then. I still believe there's a decent remake in there somewhere.

Also on the front, MST3K-wise:

Boggy Creek II, Soultaker, Teenage Strangler, Laserblast, and The Horror of Party Beach.
