You say "Big Dumper" and I see this.
A gigantic-ass dump truck used in strip mining operations. The tires alone are over ten feet or three meters tall. A person standing in front of the truck for scale comes up to the axles. These things carry hundreds of tons per load, with a top speed of like 15 mph. Up close, these motherfuckers are more imposing than a railroad locomotive. That, is a big fuckin' dumper.

Heading back aboard the TLK Małopolska, a classic loco-hauled train with opening windows, my favourite way to travel in Poland! Shame to get a 'Peter' locomotive instead of something more classic though...

The photo is a black and white image of the cab of a small locomotive. This freight engine was the smallest locomotive used by the Wabash Railroad. It was original built in 1899 as the #754, it was redesigned in 1915 into a 2-6-0 Mogul-type engine and renumbered #573. It was primarily used to carry freight across a bridge over the Illinois River at Bluffs, Illinois that couldn't support the weight of a heavier diesel locomotive. It was retired in 1982 after the Wabash Railroad merged with the Norfolk Souther Railway.

A drive wheel of a steam locomotive. This locomotive was built in 1944 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works and was one of 25 in its class. They were among the largest nonarticulated locomotives ever built, weighing 538,000 pounds and measuring 125 feet long. It worked on the Sante Fe western lines between Clovis and Belen, New Mexico, Carlsbad, New Mexico, and Pecos, Texas. A drive wheel of a steam locomotive. Bit of trivia about the cover. Looks suspiciously like one of Noel Sharp's highly detailed locomotive drawings.
Noel worked at Doncaster Works & I've seen some of his original drawings. Really talented guy (presuming it is one of his).

Are these a new service or are the replacing daily trips by the locomotive hauled intercity sets? I was up there this spring on one of those and it was lovely to have the full opening windows for the beautiful mountain scenery and fresh air. I’d be kind of sad if they went away

Cette nouveile voiture qui est mue par l'huile et l'électricité a été inventée pur des experts mécaniciens du Chemin de fer national du Canada et fait l'admiration des connaisseurs. Le principe moteur de cette voiture est nseez simple en somme: à l'un des bouts do la voiture est piscé un léger moteur À l'huile du type Diesel lequel actionne le générateur électrique qui fournit à la voiture ea force motrice. Le moteur À l'huile est mis en marche per un petit moteur électrique actionné par des batteries qui sont À leur tour rechargées par !- générateur dès qu'il y a mouvemer: ® Comme on le voit Deux modèles de cette * voiture ont été construits: un grand et un petit. La photographie du haut représente le grand modèle, dit articulé. Il se compose de deux caisses reposant sur trois bogies à deux essieux. Le bout des caisses eat attaché au bogie du centre ar un crochet de sureté qui permet a partie arrière de pivoter dans lea courbes. La longueur totale de cette voiture est de 102 pieds. Elle peut asscoir 126 voyageurs. En bas est reproduite la voiture {petit modèle qui peut usseoir 56 voya- ! geurs. La photographie du bas, à gauche, représente l'un des moteurs à l'huile en urage sur ces Voitures. A droite l'on voit le M. le maire J H. Balharrie. d'Ottawa, serrer la main de M. C. E, Brooks. chef du pouvoir de traction au Chemin de fer national du Canada, lors du voyage d'essai de la voiture grand modèle, de Montréal à Ottawa. Dans les deux modèles, il y à emplemenr nouvelle à pour le combustible, alors qu’un train de place pour les bagages à un bout de a voiture. On peut se faire une idée des avantages de la nouvelle voiture par sa perfor- mance lors des voyages d'essai. Entre Montréal et Toronto. une distance de 334 milles, il en coûta pour faire marcher le petit modèle $3.50 d'huile motrice et 48 cents d'huile lubrifiante. soit $3.98 à vapeur trainé par une locomotive du type le plus économique aurait dépensé au moins $66.00 de combustible. Cette voiture est aussi très rapide comme l'a prouvé le voyage d'easai du grand modèle entre Montréal et Ottawa, trajet qui a été effectué en. 2 heures 15 minutes, soit À une vitesse moyenne de 52 milles à l'heure. deux modèles représentés ici sont actuellement en service. Le d fait le service sur le Chemin do fer national du Canada entre la gare duj tunnel, à Montréal, et Ottawa: le petit! pour le bien général. modèle entre Hamilton et Guelph; Ontario

the railway station. Control or at least the ability to shell the station gives the enemy logistical and tactical advantage — it divides the city and complicates maneuvering for our forces.

🇺🇦Further, to get to another part of the city, they will likely try to wedge between the Locomotive and Wagon
