I was absolutely terrible at putting gizmos together as a kid and never figured out how not to over-solder anything. But when I disassembled an electric guitar to try to be cool with custom pickups and switches, the Shack is where I went for the implements I used to commit my crime against luthery.

I've been using this soundhole design—my own creation—for years. Delighted to see it's now available from other fine makers too😆.

Bending the ribs for one of my current musical instrument projects, an octave Mandola. I used a heated bending iron (on the left), wetting down the wood and wrapping it in foil. Then using the heat/steam coxed it to shape so that I could clamp it into the mold. #musicalinstrumentmaking #luthery

I built a 6 string electric just to get started. I played guitar for a while, but a bit rusty. I been so busy in the electronics books and the luthery/wood working. However, I hope to build an 8 string once I mastered the fret board. Hope to do Cyber-metal. With my modular synthesis.
