Ramping up “fare evasion” enforcement on #mapoli’s MBTA Green Line provokes larger questions about fare policy and the effects of technology on fare leakage. /1

Restless night’s sleep last night. Dreamt that #mapoli’s Josh Kraft was ending his mayoral campaign to revive his vaudeville career w/a new act, “Two Tired Crooners”. Venue TBD. Boston Policy Institute was hired to help analyze ticket sales. Special discounts for patrons arriving by bike.

Unlike #mapoli’s MBTA, Chicago’s CTA is able to share its good news because CTA actually posts here. The T saves its posts to help empower Elon & Mark.
At the start of service on Sunday, August 17, four more bus routes will operate as part of the Frequent Network.

#53 Pulaski
#55 Garfield
#77 Belmont
#82 Kimball/Homan

Making #mapoli’s urban streets safe & fairly allocated among users is important business. Public safety & sharing finite resources shouldn’t be ideological. Advocates for safe & fair streets (& the MBTA) need to work w/the mayor to demonstrate the broad benefits of a redesigned public realm.
Regarding @leungboston.bsky.social's latest opinion piece, "How a Back Bay bike lane put one Boston businessman on a war path with Michelle Wu"...

Disappointing, Leung failed in her obligation to consider the obvious politics here. Below, my Globe comment. www.bostonglobe.com/2025/08/14/b...

Don't show this to #mapoli's Josh Kraft. His transportation platform is centered on making Boston streets less safe for kids, seniors and everyone in between.
The Urban Bikeway Design Guide is more than a kit of parts to design a bike lane: it provides the how-to blueprint for creating a whole bike network for people of all ages and abilities.

Starting September 3, NACTO members are invited to in-depth trainings on the guide:

And as we leave #mapoli’s MBTA Charles MGH station, the announcement says “Next stop Charles MGH”. I’m sure the T is simply reminding us of Sartre’s play “No Exit”.

When you let yourself be the pawn of some of #bospoli’s & #mapoli’s nastiest, negative right wing political handlers, when you have no core other than the constant striving for power & influence, when you try to buy an election, when you stoke uninformed fears of vulnerable people, this happens:

If #mapoli's Josh Kraft wanted to help the people of Boston, he'd start by abandoning his campaign platform that will make our streets less safe for kids, seniors & everyone in between. #bospoli wants, deserves & needs a vibrant, inclusive future that Kraft will not provide.

Imagine if #mapoli’s @mbta.com actually posted useful information on @bsky.app - but they don’t. Not one single post here from the MBTA. Maybe @massgovernor.bsky.social could make this happen ?
Orange/Blue/Silver Line: Expect delays in both directions because of speed restrictions put in place due to a Pepco power problem between Rosslyn and Foggy Bottom.

The public debate abt bike & bus lanes is a good example of #mapoli’s deference to power: why hasn’t @bostoncitycouncil.bsky.social held a hearing on the 30 day review yet? Why doesn’t MA’s transpo know-it-all @jimaloisi.bsky.social write abt it?

Can #mapoli’s @mbta.com run a disruption free subway service on the hottest day of the year? We will find out.

Terms like “nuts & bolts” & “very fiscally constrained” are polite ways of saying: #mapoli’s MBTA passed a capital investment plan that’s totally inadequate & unable to meet the system’s needs. Largely a fail for @massgovernor.bsky.social www.bostonglobe.com/2025/05/20/m...
MBTA board approves ‘nuts and bolts’ capital budget, leaving billions in critical projects unfunded - The Boston Globe
On Tuesday, the T’s board of directors approved a $9.8 billion, five-year budget for construction projects, while also leaving more than $12.4 billion in needs without funding.

What’s painfully obvious in this clip: a candidate out of his depth & unfit for office. This happens when political puppeteers put up a Trojan Horse to help them regain power. #mapoli’s Boston can see this plainly.
ICYMI: Three months his campaign, Josh Kraft finally revealed his plans to manage impacts of climate change.

1. Employ climate tracking technology.
2. Retrofit appliances.
3. Create a climate equity committee.

Kraft is uninformed, uninspiring, and unquestionably unfit to be mayor of #mapoli’s Boston.

Kraft has no plan to reduce traffic congestion in #mapoli’s Boston, no plan to improve access to jobs or opportunities or resources. His plan is to deprive people of their mode choice. Does he even talk about transportation policy with his chauffeur? He might learn something.

Interesting how #mapoli's @MBTA won't ever publicly advocate for dedicated bus lanes, but it announces stuff like this today:
March 27, 2025 at 10:14 PM
You know #mapoli's @mbta.com isn't serious about Regional Rail when they propose spending over $150 million on new dirty diesel locomotives. Does @govmaurahealey.bsky.social @kimdriscollma.bsky.social think this is consistent with their stated climate goals? Talk is cheap.

Inspirational State of the City address tonight from #mapoli's @mayorwu.boston.gov @wutrain.bsky.social - a clear & powerful agenda for the future & a strong expression of the best of Boston: our grit, determination, creativity & generosity of spirit all on display.

For #mapoli’s Boston to survive & thrive over the next 4 years we need @mayorwu.boston.gov @wutrain.bsky.social at the helm, guiding the city with a principled & inclusive approach to governing.
If Republicans in Congress want to help make our country safe, I have some ideas for them.
