Hey just saw that the SVG Working Group is back together! Congrats!
Note: The MathML Working Group is still going! We meet once a month, and would love to have all the browser vendors join and participate in our discussions.

I want to follow up on the difference between ALT on Bluesky, & ALT in HTML.
HTML 4.01 contains both a terse descriptor—the ALT attribute—to give a verbal thumbnail of the image, & the a verbose descriptor—the LONGDESC element—to provide a rich, formatted descriptions which can contain MathML, SVG,

@aslakr IIRC that's how you can use KaTeX ahead-of-time.
But nobody wants to write in MathML syntax as the source. That should be generated from a more human-friendly form.

@pkrautz MathML is not required by HTML5, the spec only defines how you handle it if you support it. Hence less debate.

Dineen: Optics’s goals go an optimal Math workflow:
1. Math must display identically throughout production
2. Editing tool must never rewrite equation
3. Final rendering of MathML must be visible throughout production

mathML, web標準でこれはすごいなーって思ったらスマホ普通に非対応してる...まあ数式はLaTeXで書くべきよね

i will say that they are pretty decent at some drudgery work - I wanted a vision model to extract definitions from lecture notes and then create flash cards based on them - using the mathml format for displaying them

I'm not sure if this is the fault of the Firefox engine's MathML renderer or the fault of the Pandoc module that generated the MathML code from the source LaTeX, but one of them needs more time in the oven

Currently on my list of things to search for and turn off:
Things with the letters "ml" used suspiciously. (Obviously html and mathml don't count, be judicious)
"aichat" in anything
Anything making a "nimbus" - I have to delete the key, change to a boolean, and make it false.

This year we are attempting a small step forward in CSS support for MathML elements, as part of WPT's ecosystem "interop" effort:
github.com/web-platform...
"Math on the web" is a niche topic, where we have pockets of interest in community silos. So every 👍 counts! 2/3

Hey #PowerShell people, here's a new module for you:
github.com/PowerShellWe...
Here's a quick module for working with MathML
Right now, it helps you extract #MathML from pages and files.
Future releases will work on translating to code.
Then we will never have to implement formulas again! 😀

@pkrautz What I wonder is whether it’s something worth standardising. MathML isn’t very popular, but we need a solution. @jjgod

There are quite a few side/adjacent projects, but none of them are fully accessible yet.
MathML looks pretty close and I believe the LaTeX project are seriously looking into making its exports accessible now.

@pfrazee.com AT protocol newb Q: If a scientist wants to include a snippet of math in a post, would that depend on a new facet to be created by BlueSky? Or would they just embed (UTF-8 based) MathML or maybe LaTex, and then a viewer would need to be using some kind of specialised client to render?
