Sure do love when medsurg has rapid afib patients on the monitor cause that floor's nursing staff isn't trained to handle IV cardiac meds so I just have to listen to equipment scream that their hearts are beating out of their chests...

Happy CNA week! I started my career in healthcare as a nursing assistant. I worked full time nights on a PCU then later per diem evenings on ortho/medsurg. I stayed on that ortho unit as an RN. Nursing assistants are often under appreciated and underpaid for the work they do.

They apparently give everyone a heparin shot by default when they're admitted to medsurg but I said fuck no lol bc what! I don't want a blood thinner for the first time in my life 12 hrs before getting a needle stuck in my spine lol & they said Ok lol nbd and we're all having a good time in America

I have been an orthopedic/trauma medsurg nurse for a year and a half now. I got the opportunity to interview on one of the cardiac pcus in the same hospital and ended up accepting their offer to move over. I'll be a cardiac nurse in a few weeks I am so excited 🫀✨

Honestly the doctors and nurses and techs are all very nice but Parkview policies like: everyone on MedSurg is an auto fall risk on a bed alarm and also default gets heparin shots and also myelogram+ CT has to be inpatient if u come in thru the ER are horseshit
