I think this post honestly nails the issue.

Once again tapping my sign that what the centrist pundits are mad about is West Coast politics and everyone else is baffled because West Coast politics are kind of their own thing and Democratic political squabbles are completely different in the Midwest and on the East Coast.
I don't think it helps the debate about what Democrats should do to pick an obscure thing that some Democrat somewhere may have said -- like on teaching eighth grade algebra -- and then attribute it to Democrats generally.

Crunching numbers
New Calda is a megacity, which is like a regional capital. Megacities can range from 5-13 million citizens, with most sitting neatly around 8-10. They're very old and full of micro-ecosystems; most people born in one never leave their home city and travel is expensive

3C of global warming means many feet of sea level rise, fundamentally altering coastlines and swamping megacities home to 100s of millions. It means heatwaves that in humid regions could become, literally, unsurvivable for those outdoors without access to active cooling. [11/n]

Sinking Indian megacities pose 'alarming' building damage risks
Sinking land is quietly destabilizing urban infrastructure in India's largest cities, putting thousands of buildings and millions of people at risk, according to Virginia Tech scientists.

sometimes cities get really big and become megacities like NYC. sometimes a couple of nearby cities start to bleed into each other and form a conurbation like Baltimore & Washington. sometimes various megacities, conurbations, and cities become a bit of a big blob and form a megalopolis. Ekistics!

Only 4 of the 25 largest cities in the Americas are in the U.S. The rest? Latin America dominates this map.
A reminder that while the U.S. leads economically, LA leads demographically.
- U.S. metros sprawl across multiple cities
- LA megacities are hyper-centralized
- Population ≠ prosperity

Big topic, but to me the healthy heart of what gets called "religion" is contemplative practice—an open-hearted, experiential looking at how we look at things. All things. But in our day it's often presumed to be about conceptual beliefs regarding something apart from us.

Super typhoon Ragasa 'brought megacities almost to a standstill' but wasn't as bad as feared
In the end, the damage wrought by typhoon Ragasa, on mainland China at least, was not as bad as many had feared, but its power still brought multiple megacities to an almost complete standstill.

In reality, cities might be *next* to a forest, but they're never *in* a forest. Whereas we build megacities in the desert all the time. Phoenix is the fifth largest city in the USA!
I really think a better analogy would have been "tundra vs prairie"

the two biggest studios in the space took a hard turn a decade ago, and I hate it.
adjacency bonuses, megacities, diplomacy changes, I hate it, they've almost completely lost sight of what made these games so cool.
endless legend 2 is just the latest example.
