Anyway nothing about the new Shinobi felt like an evolution or addition to the series mechanics feels like another standard action metroidvannia with lackluster enemy encounters and level design.

Also its one of those games that thinks you're a fucking idiot by having a cutscene showing a lever

really fucking funny people thought the new 2D ninja gaiden was gonna be a weird metroidvannia like and then the new shinobi is way closer to that than ragebound ever was in previews

I had an idea for a metroidvannia a while back where each upgrade was 2 separate options, bit like how the augments in Deus Ex worked, the map would have different paths depending on what upgrades you picked and MAN Vaingers is just kind of a better implementation of that idea in every way lmao

I was initially a bit cold to Vainger on UFO50 'cause like, it's the metroidvannia, of course it'll be a crowd pleaser, let me get some enlightened critic points by going to bat for Rail Heist, but man it's SO well designed.
