A scene I'd been hoping to find for some time and finally got the chance back in the summer at RSPB Minsmere. This Robber Fly was preoccupied enough to let me get a few stacked shots before flying off.

A Robber Fly grasping its hoverfly prey from behind and still with its proboscis in the hoverfly's back.
I found these two on some path-side bracken in the woodland at RSPB Minsmere, on the east coast of the UK.

Today was an awesome day for watching and capturing the Bitterns at RSPB Minsmere, the Island Mere Hide definitely was the place to be between 8am -12pm.

I had a good day at Summer Leys NR, we had 3 Glossy Ibis, Water Rail, Great Egret and Jack Snipe all showing well, and the Jack Snipe was a Lifer for me. Next up is Minsmere tomorrow and Tuesday for me.

Absolutely thrilled to have seen the Red-tailed Shrike at Dunwich early this morning before guiding a group at Minsmere. The small crowd stayed at a sensible distance and we had cracking scope views. A first for Suffolk and just my second ever (following the one at Bempton three years ago). Magic!

This isn't a Kestrel about to migrate across the sea from the dunes at RSPB #Minsmere #Suffolk but successfully hovering. Managed to hold station even while I had to hold onto my hat and stooped on prey twice while I was there.
