I can help a little bit. Are you familiar with the mirrorbox analogy?

In this thought experiment, we imagine a perfectly reflective and massless enclosure. A contained lightfield reflecting off the interior of the box needs to impart momentum on the box so that each side balances with the other.

For #WWHFPD25 I am doing what I was too exhausted to do this week, clean out the mirrorbox and replace the rear seals on my “new” Pen F.

I’m totally going to tap into that night-before-term-paper energy and spend tomorrow at the Renaissance Festival like a neeeerrrd

The public are invited to step inside the Mirrorbox and listen to a message left by a participant about what that location means to them and be invited to write a postcard back.

The Mirrorbox continues its journey across Bristol and Somerset this week, arriving at Glastonbury Tor tomorrow, 18 June!

The Mirrorbox is part of the I would be here if I could project created by Bristol-based artist Alison Larkman.

Ive been chatting with artist Alison Larkman about ‘I would be here if I could’ - a human-sized mirrorbox taking messages from people living with ME and Long Covid to the places they love but can no longer get to.

Have a listen here: www.besomerset.com/post/i-would...

Oh! That’s lovely. The Mirrorbox project is amazing - so is Ashton Court. A jewel in Bristol’s crown.

Anyway, I like nature books, but not Robert Mcfarlane (too wordy), science fiction - not fantasy, British detective fiction like Rebus, Vera etc And Maggie O Farrell/ Madelaine Miller.

What kind of stuff do you like reading?

Also, I love the Mirrorbox thing.

My dad and I used to go up to Ashton Court to play bad golf most Sunday mornings when I lived in Bristol & he was still around (about 35 years ago!), so thanks!

Yesterday was phenomenal! 160+ people came out and battled the wind to stand in a #mirrorbox to listen to my message, while looking at a place I love, & for many, that they do too.
I’ve been wiped out today from the messages & hype, it was so lovely having my family come home & tell me about it all

Troopers Hill chimney reflected in the Mirror Box earlier today.
People coming out were visibly moved by Lizzy's - @hopefullizzy.bsky.social - message.
Next Ashton Court, then Glastonbury Tor.

I visited #MirrorBox this morning. It was generating lots of interest. It felt very special to connect with someone else’s memories of a place I’ve been visiting since a child, but incredibly poignant that though so nearby it is not currently possible for you to be there. It’s a wonderful project.

I feel very honoured to be the first location that the #mirrorbox will visit, each location is chosen by a person with M.E or Long Covid, as a place they long to be able to get to but cannot due to their illness.

My location is 5mins wheelchair away, but it’s been 2yrs since I last made it there.

#iwouldbehereificould #mirrorbox has become the largest collaborative arts project in the UK.

It is the concept of Bristol artist Alison Larkman, who herself has had life-altering M.E - going from being a former international rower training 5 times a week, to being housebound.

The #mirrorbox starts its tour TODAY, taking the voices of people who cannot be there, to their chosen location, to connect with those that are there.

It’s first location of #TroopersHill in #Bristol 11-6 today, June 1st 2025
