As the Haaretz article I linked points out, israeli colonizers face discrimination if they do not Hebraize their names, or if their names are recognizably Sephardi or Mizrahi rather than Ashkenazi. Colonial ideologies seek to erase even the history and names of colonizers, not just their victims.

I don't understand why the "anti Zionist" left is so obsessed with demonizing Ashkenazi Jews. Our communities are quite similar. We have slightly different minhagim from Sephardi Jews but other than that we are fundamentally the same community.

Modern Hebrew is *mostly* Mizrahi pronunciation (in part because Ashkenazi Hebraists had self-confidence issues) with a few very blatant concessions to Ashkenazi pronunciation (mostly the pronunciation of /r/, /ħ/, and /ʕ/ - each of which is still 'correct' if pronounced in the Mizrahi way)

I don't know about president but if we elected Isaac Mizrahi to Congress, he could bring back his amazing "Sketches & Answers" segment from his talk show for town halls.
