Is it just me, or does Verizon’s network feel like 2003-20011’s Ev-DO(3G-like CDMA2000) all the time?

Like, yeah it’s RELIABLE, but what’s the point of reliable when it’s reliably slow?

The only time I see good speeds are on mmWave, and that’s line of sight.

I’m telling you James: LITERALLY A GALVO CONTROLLED HIGH POWERED CONTINUOUS INFRARED FIBER LASER WITH AND A MMWAVE FIRE CONTROL RADAR WOULD PROVIDE 100% AREA DENIAL TO COTS DRONES.

of auton driving, so when a leading company like XPeng (top 2 auton system in China) says they're going LiDAR-less, they're using these 4D mmWave radars and not going truly camera-only like T*sla.

XPeng seems to be thinking that LiDARs are too high resolution in a counterproductive way
December 11, 2025 at 9:25 PM
Yes it's definitely worth it, but only if the software can actually take advantage of it. In China LiDARs are everywhere now that the software and processing chips are advanced enough to do city auton (where LiDAR has an advantage). New 4D mmWave radars are effectively low-res LiDARs for the purpose
December 11, 2025 at 9:25 PM
The computing chips and software used in most current cars aren't advanced enough to take advantage of LiDAR data. A mmWave radar and a few cameras is enough for to do adaptive cruise control and lane centering on the highway. LiDARs are much more useful in more chaotic city streets.

There are better sensors now, mmwave, detect presence without arm waving.

We have them in the kitchen. Very useful when entering with hands full of stuff, or it becomes dark whilst mid-cooking.

Guests always like wall switches so we kept them too.
