I hate when ‘heroes’ disappoint. When I was in my 20’s I was doing a show in NYC which required a 2 month stay. I was followed from the grocery store, venue, nightclub, lodging almost every single time. They, the Guardian Angels, kept several yards behind me but their presence was very comforting.

Was really sad to hear about the death of Dave Ball. Dancing to Soft Cell in a nightclub at 17 was a formative part of my youth, and then I got to see them last year at the age of 60 in Hampton Court and they were still great...

Very sad to see the news about the pioneering Dave Ball, RIP. IIRC there's a bootleg of Memorabilia live at the Hammersmith Palais in 1984 where it sounds like he's almost starting to write the House Music Anthem as he improvises piano over it. Photos from the book "To Show You I've Been There."
