ive tried XMPP chatrooms before, OMEMO broke like every other hour, or messages kept failing to deliver

- encryption was worse but more reliable (should be better once we get new omemo version currently in works)
- moderation was better
- channels were hosted in each server instead of distributed
- mobile users were given less consideration during design time
- ios support was bad

there's no server level enforcement for encryption, soo arguably, it's tenfold worse. i can't get omemo encrypted messages from 2 members of a 7 member room no matter what i've tried.

Para construir cualquier plataforma de Chat decente con XMPP tienes que implementar al menos una docena de extensiones, y si además quieres una experiencia de chat moderna, un par más (Carbon Copies, OMEMO)
Y rezar porque los demás miembros de la federación lo implementen también, claro

(I can't get it to work at the to event because spouse's messages said "This message is encrypted" and my messages to her were sent in the clear with no option to encrypt them, which is obvs not intended behaviour bc the dev was talking about it supporting omemo)
