In my mind, "otherpaw" is a great word. But it isn't anywhere close to being therian/otherkin! But as it's impossible to get those quadrobics kids to call themselves furries, it's good to have another "cool label" to direct them to, when they realise they aren't therians. They just want to belong.
Personally I don't like the recent appearance of the term "otherpaw" I feel like it is attempting to force your way into a space you do not actually belong. I don't mean this in a gatekeepy way but more in terms of it is disrespectful.

Agreed! Which is why I try educate that there are so many other communities and labels: furry, otherpaw, beliefs in spirit animals/fylgja/whatever. Therianthropy is not _better_ than anything else - but it is it's own particular thing. And anyone is allowed to make a mask and have fun with it!

Kids will be kids, but being a therian isn't a phase. it isn't a choice. if it's a choice then you aren't a therian, you're an otherpaw or something else.

And that's not to mention quadrobists/otherpaw, which is a very young (both in terms of demographics and of community age) therian-adjacent community that emerged on tiktok a couple years ago.
