#oxygenIII
M42, Orion Nebula. I'm currently working on this to increase detail and maintain the core. So far this is 17 hours of SulphurII, OxygenIII and HydrogenAlpha filters. Taken on my 180mm F7 Refractor sitting in Spain. Processed in Pixinsight.

Veil Nebula 2 panel mosaic.
This is a supernova remnant 2400 light years away.
The image was taken over 12 nights. Its a total of 880 x 5 minute exposures = 73 hours, across two panels using SulphurII, HydrogenAlpha and OxygenIII filters on a 130mm Refractor. Processed (processing!) in PixInsight.

Some targets are very dim, sending very little light our way to catch in a small hole at the end of our #telescope. The Oxygeniii light that I captured to generate most of the large blue bits in the #BatAndSquid Nebula took 16 hours alone. #LAAS #Astrophotography #Astro #Astrophoto #Space #Sky

I would have used more words but have limited space. Hydrogen-alpha and OxygenIII are the wavelengths passed by one of my filters... these are really common wavelengths for nebulae. I have another for galaxies. Both are visible. Hydrogen is red, Oxygen is blue-green. Plenty of info on the internet.
