Dmitri #Mendeleev was the first to arrange elements in the structure we know as the periodic table. Mendeleev used a solitaire sorting strategy of columns and rows to help arrange the elements. #PeriodicTableDay

7th Feb is #PeriodicTableDay! Early forms didn’t include the noble gases. Evidence for Ar was found in 1894, but because it was so unreactive, Mendeleev was reluctant to include it. As Kr, Xe & Ne came to light (& the already-known He) he had to change: & added the final column #272sci #292sci

phosphorus = element 15, symbol P

phosphorous = adjective: “relating to or containing phosphorus” or luminous like phosphorus (as in phosphorescent)
