#phaser
...That warp-nacelle phaser is wild. when you set it to stun, does it just fly out of your hand and bonk who you're aiming at? I kind of love it.

Loads of great stuff from Joe recently, especially but not exclusively related to Rick Sternbach and TNG (that's just what catches my eye).

I'm guessing there's an auction happening!

I know Roddenberry didn’t want the phaser to look like a gun, and I get that , but I do like the way the top right corner one looks - classic but sleek and updated

This could make for an interesting shuttle design, as well. The red business end of the phaser would be the thrusters and the handle would be the front of the shuttle.

"Captain, why do you insist on using that old phaser? That thing's from, what, 2350? It's nearly twenty years old at this point. We have plenty of newer ones."

"I just like it, Lieutenant. It's 'retro.' The new ones are fine, too, but I actually love how clunky and dated this old thing is."

Also used the same filament for another phaser I’m working on.

Made one last absolutely vital addition to the late-TNG-to-DS9 phaser:

The little holographic strip that, on the original, meant it was built for the last few seasons of DS9 and Voyager.

The warp propulsion system was completely redesigned to include the linear warp drive nacelles as well as the multi-deck intermix chamber. So much power was generated with this new configuration that the phaser bank were fed directly from this main reactor. 2/5

Mainwaring: Pepare Phaser-Drill, Wilson
Wilson: If you could be so kind as to form up neatly for phaser drill red shirts, that would be appreciated.
Mainwaring: Walker, where is your phaser?
Walker: Lost it in a card game on the holodeck.
Mainwaring: How did you lose to a hologram?

Authors published a paper in Biorxiv, they used Phaser in the study. Including #RRIDs will make this less ambiguous.

B'Elanna Torres is easily one of my favourite Trek characters because of her annoyed/snide energy. Working in software engineering - I find her attitude very relatable.

@susanlbridges.bsky.social and @tillybridges.bsky.social I love your writing for her in Homecoming! Thank you
