Recently, the Skagit River which runs off the North Cascades into Skagit County, flooded. Thankfully, the flood wall in Mount Vernon held the waters back.

I took these photos last spring in Mt. Vernon.

I photographed this wax myrtle in the brand new light of day. This tree that did not want to give up after struggling to exist for years. It finally succumbed to the forces of gravity but not before I photographed its essence. #photography #landscape #EastCoastKin #longexposure #nature #conservation
This tree represents a struggle to survive in an increasingly harsh environment. It grew in a pristine forest that is in a now protected area of North Florida. The watershed north of this spring has been purchased by the state so that the St. Marks River can run clear to the coast. It's a stop gap measure but one that is necessary.

A cottage sits on the banks of the Seine River. Seen from the water, it appears to have beige stucco walls with ivy vines climbing up, not yet green in early spring. The roof is brown and spotted with moss. The windows are boarded up with rust colored boards. There is a bright green weeping willow to the left and bright yellow forsythia on the right, green grass surrounding the house. It is an overcast days, so all is a bit subdued, waiting for full spring, and its occupants. The scene is reflected in the calm waters of the Seine River.

I live in Chiba-prefecture boundary of Edogawa river Tokyo, and unfortunately we have the longest wait to see the the red foliage as we are warmer than other prefectures in Japan. So we experience the shortest autumn too. Red maple🍁leaves; the coloring of Ginkgo Trees and Striking foliage are not later than late Nov. to mid-December as one with Tokyo Weather-wise. The plus side is whilst “Our Autumn” here is very late.. we, on the other hand experience the earliest blooming of Cherry🌸Blossoms or the coming of Spring in all of Japan annually.
