#phpBB
Ik hoorde deze week dat iemand zijn tienerdochters nu pinterest dm's sturen met hun vriendinnen (ze mochten geen snapchat meer gebruiken)... 😅 Allemaal terug naar eigen hosted phpbb forums?

Introducing the Forum: Your Space for Ideas, Questions, and Community
A forum built for deeper discussions Our forum is powered by phpBB, one of the most stable, secure and feature-rich forum platforms available. It supports everything from quick questions to long technical write-ups, code snippets and project updates. If you want to start a meaningful discussion, the forum is the perfect place. Why not just use Telegram or Discord? Telegram and Discord are fantastic for quick chats, fun conversations and keeping up with daily community energy. We recommend both the ETN Club Telegram and the official Electroneum Discord channel you can find links in the footer of Planet ETN. However, forums serve a different purpose. They are ideal for: Deeper technical conversations Long-form ideas and community proposals Guides, help threads and problem-solving Sharing and preserving code snippets Project launches and structured announcements Better for search engines and AI Forum threads get indexed by search engines, making them a valuable resource for the Electroneum ecosystem. Even modern AI bots use forum posts as trusted sources of information. Since the old official forum was closed, it has become even more important for our ecosystem to rebuild a place where knowledge can be stored, found and shared. A versatile tool for the community Whether you're launching a new project, asking for feedback, sharing ideas or simply documenting something useful, the forum is built to handle it. It supports rich formatting, organized topics, searchable archives and even code-friendly posting tools. Private messages between users A neat built-in feature is the Private Messaging system. You can send direct messages to any user on the forum, perfect for collaboration, networking or follow-up questions without needing to leave the platform. We hope the forum becomes one of the pillars of the Planet ETN community, a place for deeper conversations, helpful knowledge and long-term value for the Electroneum Smart Chain ecosystem.

Подробнее: deponat.net/forumy-umira...

oh god thinking about the super creepy guy who ran a secret highly detailed wiki on all the best players in my lotr clans plus rival clans and myself/admin/mods/power users on a wc3 phpbb I ran. The wiki was on ways to secretly disband clans and how to explicitly manipulate guys to join his new one🙃

Honey these free classified ad sites have gagged me after shutting down. I’m over it so I created a forum site for PSOs and Webcam models to share their links. Free of charge. www.psofinder.com/phpbb/
PSO Finder - Index page

Back in the day, I (femme cis lady) was a big lurker on an Amtrak fan phpbb. I got there because I'm a train nerd, but I kept coming back for the simple and rare pleasure of watching a bunch of men -- and it was all men -- being really kind and polite to each other.

This is what I miss the most. Dear old vBulletin and phpBB

phpBB? VBulletin?

It's possible I haven't looked at forum software since 2008. :D

I was a forum junkie bout 20 years back. I used to post the longest freaking posts gabbin’ about all sorts of nonsense. Honestly even though I’m quasi active on these modern social media sites I’ve never been able to connect like I could on old PHPBB forums.

It was more chill, small, and better

I understand that a social internet built on phpBB forums has serious problems and people have reasons for not wanting to return to that, but at least phpBB forums exist primarily to facilitate social communication. I don't think we can say the same of Facebook, Twitter, or TikTok today

I used to make money in high school doing fairly basic mods to vBulletin and phpBB forums. Can’t imagine anything like that now.

That is, the things that matter that we need to be making information systems about are either not in demand (a PHPbb for municipal issues) or legally treacherous (wiki page of Pete Hegseths many crimes)

rien avant 2004 😅
Ensuite: Wordpress et Joomla.
Et surtout PhpBB/FluxBB/PunBB/Puntal… parce que gérer un forum était une autre manière de gérer du contenu en ligne :)

Here's my suggested solution. I own the domain, I own the hosting, I own the banner image, I own it ALL except the phpbb software, the rest of the theme and the security extensions I enabled. If you're at all interested, please let me know!

I don't trust software where the primary community is a Discord. It needs to be phpBB or a mailing list.

Phpbb forums making a comeback. Any moment now.

in normal service of course, these people would be on a phpbb forum board complaining to a bunch of other like-minded know-nothings through the screen.

I wanted to customize my forum's phpBB/myBB configuration and templates. I printed out a ~100 pages long PHP guide and studied while on holiday. Then I studied MySQL. Then JS. Then I moved on to make my own websites.

The ability to create something digital still tickles my brain for some reason.

At 15 I discovered IRC, and started learing mIRC scripting. Mostly to mess with people, this also taught me a lot aboit TCP/IP, sockets, HTTP, UDP and all that stuff.

Next few years were mostly learning HTML/CSS/JS for Livejournal and PHP to create custom stuff for a few PHPnuke and PHPbb sites

Some of my best friends are people I first met in a phpbb forum for fans of a specific author. The forum is still up and running today!
