I had a day dream the other day, where Super 8mm and 16mm projectors got a modern uplift the same way new manufactures were still making vinyl record players and cassette players. LED's to prevent Film Burning and saving those films on a USB or SD Card. That'd be awesome. 📽️

more fun going through my archives today. lots of 90s gallery handouts for artists i'd forgotten; some homemade flyers for my actor friends' shows; a map drawn by shaenon garrity; receipts for Mindspring, for my first MIDI composer, for the purchase of my super 8 projectors

This Date In Manka Bros History - Nov 8, 1917:

In WW1, to entertain the troops, Manka Bros. delivered movies, projectors and pianos to some front line trenches in France.

Last night outing with the kid for his birthday;

November performance no. 3

Manual Cinema's The 4th Witch hosted by ArtsEmerson

I'm a huge fan of Manual Cinema with their intricate "low-tech" choreography of shadow puppetry and using overhead projectors!

I have to use a laptop with Win 11 at work and by far the most annoying fucking thing it does in my day-to-day is insist on playing a little stupid animation with the whole screen if I plug in an HDMI cable, which I do regularly to connect projectors etc. It is laggy and slows everything to a crawl

Show #2 this month will be at Digital Debris on Wednesday November 19! This place is so rad! They have a big wall of TVs and projectors with crazy visuals. Lots of fun!

Found this relic on the “free” table today. Wow would my students laugh to know I used these overhead sheets to complete my PhD comprehensive exam defense. No more “slides” on slide projectors, but we didn’t apparently allow PPT either. 😂😂 The end of an era! 🧪🧪

I dont go to the theater in my home town because of the broken equipment that seems to always be there. Speakers, projectors, seating, its may look a few years old but its already very rundown. Its actually over 40 years old.

they also put google tv in power point projectors i believe so now every one can be projected on to a drive in screen on you-tube. pictured the future of youtube

Double feature today. This time at a theater that should hopefully not have any failing projectors.

Have a great Sunday, everybody. :)

It doesn't help that the series has already and will play again the fact that tou can have as many Rimmers as you have holographic projectors, so the idea of any incarnation of him having a heroic and sacrificial destiny gets wonky anyway.

I think we all need to get projectors set up all over the rich neighborhoods and start displaying videos like this on a loop. Too many people are ignoring what’s happening. #ice
Here’s a disturbing video from Evanston of a federal agent hitting a man on the ground as people yell that he can’t breathe.

I don't know but my immediate guess would be no. I used to have a couple of Kodak Carousel projectors, and there was a zoom lens and a fixed 180mm lens for each. It was a kind of screw mount with very wide threads. Don't know about other brands.

Theaters used to have film projectors, but as we’ve moved to digital, the biggest restriction is the resolution that the scanner and projectors can handle, and how much data they can store. 4K movies can be MASSIVE data files, and it can take weeks to scan each frame through into the system.

Thoughts of Litebrite, Spirograph, those little wheel projectors, pinwheels, the mini garage with little cars. Hot wheels. Silly Putty. Slinky.

Alright let me tell you a story about a prominent scientist in my field and my first conference. This was in the days when most had adopted PowerPoint, but some of the older folks still showed up with actual physical slides to show on one of those old fashioned overhead projectors.

In the case of movies that were exhibited on film projectors like Star Wars, prints age and fade. They were run through projectors multiple times per day, shipped around the country for screenings, and accumulate wear and tear over time.
