So with death of academic twitter and academia. edu, I have several things (I hesitate to say "publications") that don't really live anywhere. I'll be sharing them here for now, starting with this old thread about Quran manuscripts found in a synagogue in Cairo:

Even tho I’m a Christian, I don’t expect neighbors, friends, community leaders or even my children to be.

My son’s friend gave him a Quran in elementary school as a gift & I’m happy that my son knew he didn’t have to hide it. His Quran sat in his bookcase alongside his Bible.

Islam

Whilst the Quran contains verses that promote kindness, respect, & spiritual equality before (alleged) God, in several key areas the Qur'an grants MEN GREATER RIGHTS, authority, and privileges than women.

I would therefore NEVER promote Islam. (Nor Christianity).

Reading and/or owning a copy of the Quran, for non-Muslims, should be normalized in Western society.

I read and own a copy of the Quran; it makes me respect and understand Islam more.

🚨Children were marked down for spelling Quran and Mosque wrong

Did his daughter spell those words wrong?

No!

The teacher noted she’d helped with those words and she needed to work on concentration, handwriting, etc

This isn’t a child being penalised for spellings at this stage!

for IDF that also(tho not exclusively) may be realizing they committed chillul hashem - doing so is understood as forfeiting your own life. killing is strictly forbidden in Judaism unless doing so saves greater lives. killing even one life is like killing a world, a teaching even referenced in Quran

Some sacred books, such as the Bible, the Quran, and the Kojiki... should be appreciated as ancient literature, with passages of stories to be analyzed, not only in the academic environment of higher education, but starting already in elementary school.
