Back from Scilly & going through images. A really fun year with some fantasitc birds and very few days without new arrivals. My own finds on st Agnes didn't get much beyond this Little Bunting on the 14th and a Short-toed lark on the 15th. Love place and the magic. #scillybirds #rarebirdsuk

After not seeing the Pennington Flash Black-faced Bunting in 1994, its only taken 31 years to catch up with one finally this morning! Photo courtesy of my personal photographer Chris Allen ##rarebirdsuk #ukbirding

My nemesis returns! Dipped this bird on a couple of occasions at the beginning of the year, and now it’s back. As much as I’ve loved watching our female down on Gower, a male just has that extra wow factor so I’ll be making the journey west again assuming it sticks around. #birdingWales #rareBirdsUK

Enjoyed a lunchtime visit to the bottom of Dengemarsh Gully, Dungeness for a gorgeous Pallas’s Warbler found by Stephen Message…

Even I was able to capture the bird in a wonderful ‘habitat shot’ and the classic ‘hovering yellow rump’ shot 🫣

The Pallid Harrier showed well again this evening over Llanrhidian Marsh before going to roost. Also present was a cream capped Marsh Harrier which at one point was seen carrying a largish mammal in its talons. #birdingWales #rareBirdsUK #UKWildlife #birdsoftheworld @birdsinwales.bsky.social

Baird's Sandpiper currently in residence at Rutland Water - a superb little performer which, although not actually aggressive, does approach cameras with little hestitation...! #RareBirdsUK #UKbirding #Waders

Good numbers of migrants over last couple days on Barra after a quiet week. Pleased to find this Red-breasted Flycatcher at Glen this morning (1 of 2 on the island). My first Yellow-browed Warbler of the year was a nice surprise in North Bay plantation yesterday. #birdingscotland #rarebirdsuk

St. Agnes certainly was the place to be last week. As well as Mourning Dove & American Pipit we had insane views of this EURASIAN HOOPOE. #scillybirding #birds #birding #BirdsSeenIn2025 #RareBirdsUK

Our group enjoyed point blank views of this AMERICAN PIPIT on St. Agnes, Scilly last week and was our 3rd seen on UK tours (previously 1 Scilly & 1 Devon). Nice comparison with Meadow Pipit in last shot. #scillybirding #birds #birding #BirdsSeenIn2025 #RareBirdsUK

A further selection of images from last nights superb Pallid Harrier show down on Llanrhidian Marsh. It roamed much more widely than I’ve seen previously, including a trip right along the marsh towards Crofty and back. #birdingWales #rareBirdsUK #UKWildlife #birdsoftheworld @birdsinwales.bsky.social

Pallid Harrier showed superbly this evening over Llanrhidian Marsh in the soft light. Best views yet. At dusk a male Hen Harrier and (I think) a ringtail joined the party, the former briefly tussling with the Pallid. Glossy Ibis in again behind sewage works. #birdingWales #rareBirdsUK #UKWildlife

Now back home from a wonderful tour to the Isles of Scilly where the undoubted highlight was this MOURNING DOVE on St. Agnes. A new UK bird for the all the clients and one that wasn't on our radar when we started the trip! #scillybirding #birds #birding #BirdsSeenIn2025 #RareBirdsUK

My record of connecting with Shrikes in Pembrokeshire is appalling so it was a great relief to find the Brown Shrike still present near St David’s this afternoon. Across and down the road from where originally found it gave some lovely views. #birdingWales #rareBirdsUK @birdsinwales.bsky.social
