Two tiny pseudoscorpions amongst the debris of decaying wood. They have long 'arms' (the pedipalps or palps) that end in claws and pale oval, rather flattened bodies. The head and palps are reddish brown.

The Purple Brittlegill (Russula atropurpurea) has a deep reddish-purple cap, often darkest at the centre and sometimes almost black, with cream gills beneath. Fruiting in autumn, it thrives among deciduous trees, forming mycorrhizal relationships.

Comet C/2025 R2 (SWAN) sports a greenish coma and fainter tail, seen against congeries of stars and dusty interstellar clouds in this 7-degree-wide telescopic field of view from October 17. On that date, the new visitor to the inner Solar System obligingly posed with two other celestial birds seen toward the centre of our Milky Way. Messier 16, near the bottom of the frame, and Messier 17 are also known to deep skywatchers as the Eagle and the Swan nebulae. While the comet coma's greenish glow recorded in the image is due to diatomic carbon gas fluorescing in sunlight, reddish hues seen in the nebulae, star forming regions some 5,000 light-years distant, are characteristic of ionized hydrogen gas. Comet SWAN is outbound now but still a good comet for binoculars and small telescopes that can look close to the southern horizon in the northern hemisphere's early evening skies. C/2025 R2 (SWAN) was closest to our fair planet on October 20, a mere 2.2 light-minutes away.

Yes. I was dirty blonde as a baby and my hair increasingly grew darker.

If I go in the sun too much I get natural highlights around my face and the reddish highlights increase.

Sunset tonight from the boardwalk over the bay in Fairhaven (Bellingham) for tonight's 9 o'clock photo.
Portage Island in background front. Incline to far right is north end of hill on Lummi Island, disappearing behind Portage. The very distant and tall hill is Mt Constitution on Orcas Island.

Bottom 1/5 of the photo is open water, with a moored sailboat at center and fairly close. In the distance are several forested hills, each progressively much more distant and much higher than the last. The highest rises to about 1/3 the way up the photo. Above this is a dark cloud, running to about 1/2 way up the photo. Above this is a section of clear sky to a point about 2/3 of the way up the photo, above with is grey clouds. The center part with the more clear sky is reddish-orange, with yellow at the edge of the top cloud bank. Puffs of clouds near the top of the photo are highlighted against the grey clouds by some purple outlines.
