God is our refuge and strength, a help always near in times of great trouble. That’s why we won’t be afraid when the world falls apart, when the mountains crumble into the center of the sea, when its waters roar and rage, when the mountains shake because of its surging waves. — Psalm 46:1-3 (CEB)

I mean, I've encountered the argument that S-P -> weaker Hashemites -> Saudis capture their modern borders and former heartland of the Hashemites-> you end up with Jordan as a historically fake kingdom as the one refuge where the Brits actually protect their clients long term.
Don't really buy it.

Opening up the arctic refuge after we just had a typhoon that made 4 villages evacuate is insane. Alaska has been my peoples home since time immemorial. We are the first peoples of this land, Alaska is the LAST refuge. I’m just at a loss for words. This is bad news for all of us.

Consider our cold-blooded friends this hibernation season, who enter a similar state called brumation. Reptiles and amphibians seek refuge in loose soil, compost heaps, piles of rocks or logs and pond vegetation – so resist tidying or clearing these areas! 🐸🦎🐍
