New gel restores dental enamel & could revolutionise tooth repair

There is currently no solution available that can effectively regrow enamel

Current treatments such as fluoride varnishes & remineralisation solutions only alleviate the symptoms of lost enamel

DOC export quietly accounts for up to ~20% of total organic carbon export globally. In this study, we examine the biological and physical drivers of DOC dynamics: its production, remineralisation, and ultimately its export via advection and mixing.

Dissolved organic carbon dynamics in a changing ocean: an ESM2M-COBALTv2 coupled model analysis
Abstract. Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) constitutes a major component of the marine carbon cycle, yet its present contributions to carbon export, and the response to future climate change remain poor...

In the case of coastal upwelling zones, yes! In the offshore gyres acidification tracks the atmosphere, but this water is then subducted & gets additional carbon from remineralisation, pushing it into CO2 chemistry space where the acidification from that initial CO2 uptake is amplified

🚨Out today, acidification of the California Current🚨
Using corals and models we show regionally amplified acidification, due to the combo of CO2 uptake and remineralisation. This highlights potential risks to productive upwelling zones in an acidifying ocean 🌊🧪⚒️📈

🌊While we currently lack a consensus on the magnitude of organic carbon remineralisation through bottom trawling, there is an urgent need to address the ongoing climate crisis.
Here we map hotspots and coldspots of organic carbon in Norway to guide marine spatial planning.

They're only 1% of the planet but the #hadal trenches are hotspots of #remineralisation.

It's tiny processes at an enormous scale and crucial for our planet.

We also have a #blobfish special guest!

@marctennant.bsky.social 🦷 Neutrafluor 5000 vs 3M Clinpro 5000 for use with extensive caries. Comment on claims the latter offers more effective remineralisation?

And did your followup testing show remineralisation?

The Truth About Tap Water and Why Purified Water Matters
The Importance of Clean Water In today's world, the question isn't whether water is essential—but rather, why the quality of water we consume is so critical. It's a fact that clean water is fundamental to our health. But with reports indicating the presence of toxins and contaminants in public water supplies, it's wort

Finalement, la solution la plus fiable, c’est de purifier son eau du robinet avec un filtre individuel placé sous l’évier de la cuisine. Le top : l’osmose inverse, suivi d’une remineralisation.

The archaic methodologies of mono- and agriculture does indeed affect biodiversity, we also utilize malficient means of restitution, or revitalisation/remineralisation of soil.
Basically, western science have made us dumber, we’ve grown to discredit natural processes in our vainglorious “sapience”.

This paper argues that the biological carbon pump (i.e., remineralisation) contributed significantly to the long-term trend in DIC in the South Atlantic at 40S. I would like to see a demonstration in an ocean-bgc model forced by ERA5-surface fluxes at the preindustrial atmospheric CO2 level. 🌊
