And here is the rhododendron with some gorgeous pink flowers for #bloomscrolling 🌱

So I was just clearing leaves, doing a bit of cutting back and came across this in rhododendron bush. It’s a rose, I think 🤔(didn’t realise there was a rose bush there) So pretty. Anyone know what it’s called.

Ireland has almost no native forest left, and what remains is being killed off by a host of alien invasive species: rhododendron, sika deer, feral goats...

Try to do something about it, and you're just "flexing your muscles online as a heroic eco warrior." 🙄

Das Bild zeigt eine kleine Bronzestatue eines Jungen, der eine Flöte spielt. Die Statue steht auf einem hellen, rechteckigen Natursteinsockel, in den der Name „Wolfgang“ eingraviert ist.
Die Bronzestatue hat eine Patina angenommen, die ihr eine grünlich-türkise Färbung verleiht. Der Junge ist kniend oder hockend dargestellt, das Instrument hält er schräg nach oben an den Mund.

The turn of the season is seen in the death of the fireweed and the vine maple's changing colors, but the rhododendron doesn't seem to mind. Nice work day in the woods.

Another pile of rhodo gone!

Rhododendron ponticum is native to Iberia and Caucas region (its actually under pressure in Iberia and people working to save it)!

Ireland is thought to have a cultivar "superponticum" introduced in last century or so which is cold resistant, perfect for Irish climate.
