My dad was a belly gunner in a B-29 in WWII. He was a true hero… Purple Heart AND Distinguished Flying Cross. He (barely) survived 24 missions over the Himalayas when he was just 18. He watched his friends get shot down over China & our sailors massacred at Pearl Harbor. He died in 2018 at 94.
