Maiden Castle promontory fort, Bickerton Hill, #Cheshire, 1946. You can see the impact of its use as a military training area, including on the double ramparts themselves (in the centre of the shot). The #SandstoneTrail passes through it now. #HillfortsWednesday (HE EAW000840)

A beautiful 20km walk along the Sandstone Trail from our front door today. Reminded us we are very lucky to live where we do. Obviously there were stops for cake, coffee, a cold shandy...and a picnic 😅 #getoutside #Sandstonetrail

The atmosphere on Bickerton Hill was pretty eerie yesterday with the persistent fog that had blanketed the region.
It felt good to go there and walk about for a bit to clear my head after being cooper up at home over the Christmas break.
