That is an underrated one, the Schiavo thing. Loomed real large at the time but didn't really stick around in the culture. It came a few months before Katrina, though, the moment everyone DEFINITELY remembers.

When my ex-wife's mom died, she had a very clear living will and advanced medical directives to indicate she wanted no heroic measures. She was terrified of becoming Terri Schiavo.

This is my take as well. Before any of that even happened I drew a parallel between what I thought would happen to Trump and the Terri Schiavo debacle under W. The right wing went wild over an issue that the regular Americans were disgusted by
If/when this Regime collapses, I think we will look back at the way they overplayed their hand with their response to Kirk’s death as the beginning of the end.
