Appointed Chief Justice of the United States by President Grover Cleveland in 1888, Fuller served on the Supreme Court until his death in 1910.

#OTD February 24, 1930, Charles Evans Hughes took the Judicial Oath and assumed his seat as Chief Justice of the United States.

This was his second tenure on the Supreme Court. He served as an Associate Justice from 1910-1916.

#OTD February 8, 1790, President George Washington nominated James Iredell as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court.

Following his confirmation, Justice Iredell served on the Court until his death in 1799.
