Pointcloud Garden: Oh, I really like this! Basically this lets you select from a dropdown to pick one of a selection of different garden views, which are then rendered in your browser in a sort of Kinect-ish, pointillist abstract multicoloured cloud (which is still semi-recognisably a garden). There’s something both weirdly-retro about the look of this, reminiscent of a certain style of game art from the 90s, and also oddly soothing; I could honestly look at these twinkling pixel gardens for hours (so tired, so very tired).

They are semi-abstract watercolours of moments and emotions I’ve had walking these hills where we live between Wadsworth Moor and Walshaw Moor. I’ve a lot to learn but I’m pleased with how I’m gradually more familiar with what the brushes and colours will do.

I think I massively underestimated this book when I first published it. Nevertheless it sold through a full print run and has had a second.
I really need to read it again.

Student Perspectives on Using Generative Artificial Intelligence for Research: A Qualitative Approach Marc Vinyard and Mark Roosa abstract: This study examined undergraduate students’ use of generative artificial intelligence (GAI) for research assignments and its intersection with traditional library databases. Semi- structured interviews with 16 students revealed GAI is primarily used for grammar, summarizing, brainstorming, and locating sources. While students value GAI for efficiency, they express concerns about accuracy and plagiarism, highlighting a need for guidance on prompt crafting and source evaluation. Participants reported difficulty locating scholarly articles with GAI, preferring library databases for this task. The study suggests librarians can play a crucial role in providing GAI literacy instruction, including teaching effective prompt engineering for database searching, thereby supporting student research strategies.

Rauschenberg's penchant for experimentation and the role of chance was never more apparent than in this editioned lithograph of 1963 that became one of his best known prints. Aptly titled Accident, this rare lithograph was the result of a studio mishap in which the limestone printing matrix was broken during the proofing process. Capitalizing on what he saw as an opportunity, he printed the lithograph from the pieces of broken stone, incorporating gestural brushstrokes and appropriated photographic images into a semi-abstract assemblage. In keeping with his usual working method, Rauschenberg allowed for serendipity and unexpected meanings to emerge, creating an intriguing intersection of content and process. This print was awarded the Grand Prix at the International Print Exhibition V at Ljubljana, Yugoslavia, 1963.

two sculptural jaymar-style chairs… semi-circular scoop backs that go all the way to the floor, and a seat that is shaped like a tongue. the two pieces combine to leave a circular gap at the back of the seat. they're upholstered in ludicrous early 1990s fabric with abstract watercolor patterns in mauve, purple and sage green
