Apparently I didn't post this one before, so here's all of the Shanghai team in uniform.

Their team name is specifically 山河班 or "Mountain (and) River Company"*, hence their names are puns for rivers (or water) & mountains

Guan Qinglang of the Shanghai Combat Revue is a mixture of that specific Chinese archetype of an eggheaded scholar-poet/intelligentsia (酸儒) & a first-wave progressive feminist. She's a lot.

Wu Shuang writes a poem for Guan Qinglang on her birthday and shows it to Yue Ying. Yue Ying thinks Wu Shuang's poem is poor and gives out criticism. Wu Shuang is dejected and gives up on it rather than embarrass himself in doing something he can't. Yue Ying offers to write a new poem for Guan Qinglang, one she will most assuredly like. Wu Shuang is doubtful. Guan Qinglang REALLY likes the poem and has flowery praise for it. So much so this embarrasses Wu Shuang in a different way. In the background, Qinglang antagonizes Qin Bailing.
