2/ the full *2* doses of Shingrix, but again, I'd ask your pharmacist. (I'd say "confirm w/ your doctor,") but in my experience, community providers are a little clueless about vax schedules for anything out of the ordinary. What you want is for the pharmacist to *look up* the guidelines, not guess.

The answer may depend on whether you got Zostavax or Shingrix.

If you got Shingrix, AFAIK, you still only need to finish the series (not start over), but confirm w/ your pharmacist.

If you got Zostavax (which was available until late 2020, but isn't anymore, & wasn’t as good as S.), you may need

Actually, get two.

Apparently it needs a second dose 2-6 months after the first to be fully Shingrix vaxxed. Doc should explain this.

And it’s free for one year (only) following your 65th birthday!

And absolute yes on Shingrix. Got mine as soon as I found out it had become available without breaking the bank. It used to be like $400 for both jabs!

They wanted to call it that, but no, it was active shingles. She had to stay on the antivirals to keep it from breaking out in blisters all over again because her compromised immune system couldn’t handle it alone. Awful. So glad for shingrix!

I got my shingrix vaccination 10 years after my first which wasn’t shingrix. But I had a bad reaction of 3 days down with high fever. Tested negative for all viruses. It was just a text book bad reaction. Hubby due for his 2d dose soon.

By revaccination combined MMR II, Shingrix and a flu shot every month, you can use the revaccination cytokine response including alpha TNF, gamma interferon and interleukin 2 to powerfully fight melanoma and lung cancer. And this clown? We need to vaccinate against his kind too.

Absolutely! My spouse is immunocompromised and truly suffered from shingles for a year and a half in her early 50s. We both got shingrix asap thereafter but wish we had been able to get vaxxed sooner.

I got about 3 hrs sleep, then went out to get my Flu shot and first Shingrix Shingles shot (another dose needed after 2 months.)

I may not make it the full 18 innings tonight! 🙃😁

I had my second shingrix (shingles) vaccine yesterday and I'm feeling terrible. I felt bad after the first one buy this is worse. I'd hot rather blase about vaccines as I've never had any issues with others, flu, covid, etc. I'm sitting indoors and shivering with a coat on, and my tracker watch […]

Lucky me. I’m one of the 3 million that got both the Zostavax and the Shingrix. I guess time will tell. 😐

I got a TDAP booster when I got my first Shingles shot last year and... do NOT do that, do not combine your Shingrix with ANYTHING, you will regret it, it will be bad

(And I had shingles once when I was 33, on my FACE, never again)

then you can get shingrix at 50. I used not recommend it too strongly because it was expensive but that has changed the past couple years. This new data is encouraging.

You can if you're immunocomprised; if you have a condition like HIV or are having chemo, ask your doctor, for sure.

For healthy younger folks, they've decided the benefits don't outweigh the costs. Immunity from Shingrix wanes over time, so you want to get it when your risk becomes significant; ...

Yes, it does wane, but AFAIK, the CDC doesn't recommend boosters - that might change, though. Shingrix has been out for < a decade, so no one's immunity should have worn off yet.

AFAIK, people who got Zostavax (the immunity from which waned PDQ) before it was d/c'd can now get Shingrix. As to...

Not exactly helpful but if your doc prescribes it I believe you can pay cash (and use a goodrx coupon) for it. It'll run about $500 all together www.goodrx.com/shingrix/how...

2/ Department of Health and ask if they're offering it through any free vaccine clinics.

You can also apply for assistance through the manufacturer.

Crazy!! I got my Shingrix- had no idea shingles is linked to so many poor outcomes!!!
In the US: If you're 50 or older (or 19/older & immunocompromised), please get vaxxed against shingles. It's no joke.

Several observational analyses suggest higher cardiovascular and dementia risks in those with and without HIV who get shingles and lower risks with vaccination.

👉 Shingrix vax completion went only from 57% to 60% after dashboard implemented (38 wk f/u)

🤔 My thoughts: Perhaps we need more than a dashboard – what other structural barriers are there to advising pts on a vaccine during a clinic visit, and then them getting the shot?

I'd think a doctor's prescription could let you get the shot in CA?
I was old enough for the first not-very-effective shingles vax when it came out (forget if that was 55 or 60), and got it,
but got Shingrix when it came out as well.
