Think the easiest way to check if Japan uses the term is to search it in Japanese on Twitter haha (I suppose not everyone knows how to type hiragana and katakana tbf)

It might be older people who got into animanga around the 2010s when GxG media that wasn't explicit was called "shoujo ai"? I think that term has been phased out though
