i'm over here like "what if i'm not doing enough research" while i'm diving into early 2000s writings on the complex social problems brought by internet forums and looking at 90s SIGGRAPH presentation materials

Here's a recording of my talk on the role of computers in making art, including so-called "AI", which was presented as the opening keynote of SIGGRAPH 2025, incorporating lessons from the history of computer graphics, photography, modern art, and philosophy of art. www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2YR... 1/

I saw him deliver a keynote address at SIGGRAPH, the yearly computer graphics conference. Everyone in that audience was extremely knowledgeable about the field, and he did not embarrass himself.

I also count him an expert in 3D cameras.

In this tutorial series from SIGGRAPH, we enhance a Vulkan renderer with ray tracing features to implement real-time pixel-perfect shadows (with and without transparency) and a bonus reflection effect.

But it was also included in their Video Review Issue 132.

Nobody was allowed to record video inside the convention hall at the time. But hypothetically, somebody out there who still has a copy of SIGGRAPH Video Review Issue 132 has this video. It's the earliest known public showing of The Bouncer.

Computing the exact bijection of the optimal transport (OT) problem between very large point sets is completely untractable…

In our SIGGRAPH Asia 2025 paper: “BSP-OT: Sparse transport plans between discrete measures in log-linear time” we get one with typically 1% of error in a few seconds on CPU!

Pendleton Ward at SIGGRAPH. I was a student volunteer - I think 2016?? and I was so flustered but he was so patient and kind.
Who is the nicest or kindest celebrity you ever met? For me it was Wilson Cruz—I met him at a comic book convention and he was incredibly sweet and humored me while I raved about his various important roles and then he gave me a big hug. He smelled amazing, too.
