No Kings, No War on the People — Congress Must Rein In Abuses of Power
Text SIGN PMXUIK to 50409 — On this No Kings Day, Americans remind our leaders that this nation rejected monarchy. Yet recent actions from the White House look less like constitutional government and more like rule by decree. Abroad: Since September, the U.S. military has carried out multiple lethal strikes on suspected drug-smuggling vessels in the Caribbean. At least the high-20s have been killed, and survivors from the latest strike are being held aboard a U.S. Navy ship. Members of Congress and legal experts are demanding clarity on the legal authority, the civilian toll, and whether the War Powers Resolution is being followed. The head of U.S. Southern Command has announced an early retirement amid a growing buildup near Venezuela — another signal that congressional oversight is urgently needed. On January 20, 2025, the President signed an executive order authorizing the designation of certain cartels as terrorist organizations, later implemented by the State Department and Treasury. However, the use of military force still requires congressional consent and transparency. At home: Federal operations in Chicago have drawn court scrutiny after warrantless arrests and property damage during a large-scale immigration raid. A federal judge has ordered body cameras and stricter protocols. Lower courts blocked deployment of the National Guard, and the administration has now appealed to the Supreme Court to allow it. Meanwhile, the White House has declared “Antifa” a domestic terrorist organization and issued a directive on “domestic terrorism,” despite experts noting there is no legal framework for such designations. Labeling dissent as terrorism is incompatible with American democracy. No Kings means: • No president wages war — abroad or at home — without the people’s consent through Congress. • No president turns the U.S. military into a domestic police force. • No president redefines protest as “terrorism.” I urge you to act now: • Hold hearings on the legal basis for the Caribbean strikes, the intelligence used to justify them, and civilian harm assessments. • Reaffirm the limits of the War Powers Resolution and Posse Comitatus Act. • Investigate domestic federal deployments and ensure accountability for unlawful raids and detentions. • Demand a legal explanation for labeling political movements as “terrorist organizations.” On this No Kings Day, please defend the Constitution and make clear: in America, no one is above the law.

The crowd at the event I attended was the largest one I've seen yet in my little corner of the country. Fitting that it was within a stone's throw of where the first signers of the Constitution met about 240 years ago.

Oppose $20 Billion Bailout to Argentina: Protect US Farmers and Fiscal Responsibility
Text SIGN PKGXDN to 50409 — I am writing to express my strong opposition to the recently announced $20 billion bailout for Argentina. This decision is deeply concerning, especially given our current domestic challenges, including the recent government shutdown due to budget disagreements. It is fiscally irresponsible to allocate such a substantial sum to a foreign nation when we struggle to fund our own government operations. This bailout, in the form of a currency swap between the U.S. dollar and Argentine peso, sets a dangerous precedent and raises questions about our priorities as a nation. Moreover, this financial assistance directly undermines American farmers. Argentina is a major competitor in the global soybean market, particularly in exports to China. By stabilizing Argentina's volatile currency, we are effectively subsidizing our competition. This action could potentially harm U.S. agricultural exports and the livelihoods of American farmers who are already facing numerous challenges. The timing of this bailout is particularly troubling. On October 14, President Trump hosted Argentine President Javier Milei at the White House, shortly after announcing this financial package. While international diplomacy is important, it should not come at the expense of American interests and taxpayer dollars. I urge you to take immediate action to halt this bailout and prioritize domestic needs. We need to focus on resolving our own economic challenges, supporting American farmers, and ensuring the stability of our government operations. The $20 billion earmarked for Argentina could be better used to address pressing issues at home, including infrastructure improvements, healthcare, or education. Please advocate for a reconsideration of this decision and push for policies that put America first. Our farmers, our economy, and our fiscal responsibility should be the top priorities. I look forward to hearing about your efforts to protect American interests and oppose this misguided bailout.

🖋️ “Congress Must Curb ICE’s Expanding Spy Technology Now” hit 10 signers!

💬 Text SIGN PUEIDA to 50409
Congress Must Curb ICE’s Expanding Spy Technology Now
Text SIGN PUEIDA to 50409 — ICE’s rapid expansion of surveillance technology urgently requires strict legislative control. Without firm limits, these systems threaten the privacy rights of citizens and legal residents alike. Unrestrained Surveillance Investigations show that ICE now deploys facial recognition, spyware, phone-tracking, social media monitoring, and vast data-fusion systems such as Palantir’s “ImmigrationOS.” These tools - nominally for immigration enforcement - can easily be used to monitor lawful protest, political activity, or ordinary communication. Reports by The Washington Post and others document that ICE’s purchases and data access often occur without public notice or judicial review. Civil Liberties at Risk ICE operates outside many of the safeguards that govern criminal investigations. Civil rights experts warn that algorithmic bias, false matches, and lack of transparency could chill speech and undermine due process. Senators from both parties have already called for a halt to facial-recognition contracts and a review of spyware acquisitions. Needed Safeguards Congress should enact legislation requiring: 1. A clear statutory limit on when and how ICE may deploy surveillance tools. 2. Warrant or court approval for intrusive tracking or device access. 3. Strict data minimization and short retention periods. 4. Mandatory public reporting on contracts and number of people monitored. 5. Independent audits and an accessible process for redress. 6. A prohibition on using immigration surveillance tools for domestic political purposes. Restore Public Trust Unchecked digital surveillance by any federal agency erodes confidence in law enforcement and invites abuse. Congress must act now to ensure that national security never becomes a pretext for spying on Americans. I urge you to support or introduce legislation establishing firm privacy and oversight safeguards on ICE’s technology programs.

Condemn JD Vance’s Defense of Racism and Hate Speech
Text SIGN PSHYMH to 50409 — I am writing to express outrage that Vice President JD Vance has defended the Young Republican leaders exposed for sharing vile racist, antisemitic, and misogynistic slurs in their private group chats. These were not “kids,” as Vance falsely claimed. They were adult staffers working for state legislators, attorneys general, policy institutes, and even the federal government. Their messages—glorifying Hitler, joking about the Holocaust, mocking rape, and using slurs against women and people of color—were not “edgy humor.” They were hate speech. Dismissing this behavior as “boys being boys” normalizes racism and undermines the moral standards our leaders should uphold. Vance’s defense is especially disturbing given that some of the attacks were aimed at Indian women—the heritage of his own wife and children. His silence and excuses reveal a lack of basic decency, empathy, and integrity unfit for public office. This comes as yet another Republican staffer was caught displaying a swastika on a U.S. flag in a congressional office. When hate symbols and hate speech are met with excuses instead of condemnation, it sends a message that extremism is tolerated at the highest levels of government. Congress must draw a clear moral line. Condemn JD Vance’s defense of hate speech, reaffirm zero tolerance for racism and antisemitism in all government offices, and ensure that individuals who traffic in or excuse such hatred are never placed in positions of power or trust again.

🖋️ “Oppose Trump’s Drastic Cuts to Social Security Disability Insurance” hit 10 signers!

💬 Text SIGN PQUPYU to 50409
Oppose Trump’s Drastic Cuts to Social Security Disability Insurance
Text SIGN PQUPYU to 50409 — Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you in the strongest possible terms to oppose the Trump Administration's proposed cuts to Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). These cuts, which could reduce the share of qualifying applicants by up to 20%, would be the largest in SSDI history, would devastate families, and break the Republican Party’s and President Trump's promise not to cut Social Security. Not that their promises are worth anything. The proposed rule would make it significantly harder for Americans to qualify for both SSDI and SSI, with particularly severe impacts on applicants over 50 years old. An Urban Institute analysis suggests that even a cut half this size could result in 750,000 fewer people receiving SSDI benefits within a decade. This is deeply concerning, as nearly 80% of disabled workers receiving SSDI are older workers who rely on these benefits for their livelihood. Additionally, these cuts would disproportionately harm people in the South and Appalachia, where there are higher proportions of older workers with less formal education. The impact extends beyond just Social Security and SSI, threatening retirement security, access to health care, and other vital support systems for disabled individuals. In short, financial ruin for NO REASON. It's worth noting that similar cuts implemented during the Reagan era were later reversed due to widespread opposition. We must learn from history and prevent such harmful policies from being enacted again. I urge you to take immediate action to oppose these proposed cuts. Please speak out against this rule change, work with your colleagues to block its implementation, and support legislation that protects and strengthens Social Security, SSDI, and SSI, such as Rep. John Larson’s Social Security 2100 Act. Our most vulnerable citizens are counting on your efforts to safeguard these crucial programs that millions of Americans depend on for their basic needs and dignity. Oppose these cuts. Thank you.

🖋️ “First Amendment: Press For Reversal of Pentagon Press Restrictions Now!” hit 100 signers!

💬 Text SIGN PHOSLT to 50409
First Amendment: Press For Reversal of Pentagon Press Restrictions Now!
Text SIGN PHOSLT to 50409 — Today I take pen in hand to write and bring a serious First Amendment Rights issue: I’m alarmed about the new rules implemented by the Pentagon under Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that severely restrict press access and threaten First Amendment protections. This cannot be allowed. These regulations have led many reputable news organizations, including The New York Times, NBC News, and Fox News, to refuse to sign on, effectively surrendering their press passes. So now-how will we know what illegal and anti-democratic things Hegseth and other officials are up to? What seditious and unsanctioned use of the military will they perform without press and Congressional oversight? You’ve seen the story: The extensive new rules, which replace a simple one-page agreement, impose strict limitations on journalists' access and introduce potential punishments for requesting information on matters of public interest. This shift from transparency to opacity is alarming and undermines the fundamental role of a free press in our democracy. Please call for a congressional inquiry into these new Pentagon rules and their impact on First Amendment rights. Additionally, I ask that you sponsor or co-sponsor legislation that would safeguard journalists' access to government facilities and information, particularly in matters of national security and defense. The press serves as a crucial check on government power, and these new restrictions set a dangerous precedent. By limiting media access, we risk losing vital oversight and the public's right to be informed about the operations of our military and defense apparatus. The fact that major news outlets across the political spectrum have united in opposition to these rules underscores the gravity of this issue. Time is of the essence. Every day these restrictions remain in place is another day our press freedoms are eroded. Please act swiftly to address this matter. Thank you.

🖋️ “Pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act — Protect Democracy from the Court” hit 2,000 signers!

💬 Text SIGN PKNWUS to 50409
Pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act — Protect Democracy from the Court
Text SIGN PKNWUS to 50409 — The Supreme Court’s conservative majority seems ready to gut what remains of the Voting Rights Act. In Callais v. Louisiana, their questions made clear an intent to make racial discrimination in voting easier to hide and harder to prove — effectively giving states free rein to silence Black and minority voters. If Section 2 is weakened or struck down, it would destroy one of the last civil-rights safeguards against racial gerrymandering and could lock partisan control of the House for a generation. Congress cannot sit idle while the Court dismantles democracy. It must pass the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (H.R. 14 / S. 4) to restore preclearance, reinforce Section 2 protections, and guarantee that every American has an equal voice in elections. The Constitution grants Congress — not the courts — the power to enforce the Fifteenth Amendment’s promise of fair voting. Surrender is not an option. A ruling against Section 2 would be a betrayal of civil-rights history, but it would not end the struggle for justice. Giving up now would “sell the American people short.” We have agency, and Congress has the duty to act. Do not let this Court erase the progress generations fought for. Pass H.R. 14 and S. 4 now — before voter suppression becomes the law of the land.

Texas Gov. Abbott: Focus on Real Issues, Not Erasing LGBTQ Texans
Text SIGN PIKULU to 50409 — As gay Texans, we've seen you threaten to withhold millions in road funding from cities unless they erase rainbow crosswalks. Dallas painted theirs in Oak Lawn with private donations in 2020, not taxpayer money. Houston memorializes a cyclist killed in a hit-and-run. San Antonio installed theirs in 2018 to honor the LGBTQ+ community. You gave cities 30 days to comply or lose state partnerships. Former Houston Mayor Annise Parker, one of the first openly LGBTQ mayors of a major American city, said she was surprised that erasing rainbow crosswalks has become your priority. She’s right. Texans care about jobs, healthcare, and safe schools. We don’t care about painted asphalt. But you’ve made it a crusade. You authorized 400 Texas National Guard members to deploy to Chicago and other cities at Trump’s request, sending public servants away from their families during peaceful protests. A federal judge blocked this, calling the claims unreliable and saying it would intensify unrest. Republican Governor Kevin Stitt criticized it, citing states’ rights. Meanwhile, Ken Paxton announced operations to infiltrate leftist terror cells, labeling transgender Texans and opponents as “a cancer.” This is McCarthyism. Right-wing terror attacks outnumber left-wing yearly from 1994 to 2024. Paxton is creating enemies to justify government overreach. What’s radical? Banning books, erasing communities, calling Texans terrorists for dissent. President Eisenhower sent troops to Little Rock in 1957 to protect Black students from discrimination; history judged that governor harshly. You’re repeating his mistakes. Texas needs leaders focusing on lowering taxes, fixing the power grid, funding schools. We need unity, not division. We need problem-solvers, not culture warriors chasing Trump’s approval. I demand you reverse the crosswalk order, bring our Guard home, and focus on issues that improve Texans’ lives. Stop wasting time and money on cruelty and rhetoric!
