I do remember seeing Salo' for the first time as part of the London Film Festival in 1977. I'm almost certain it was shown at a cinema in Leicester Square and not at the Southbank. No idea what version we saw other than it had no certificate and you had to be a member of the bfi to buy a ticket.

Have to say I really love the Southbank and go there often. The buildings are actually amazing, I love the woodgrain in the concrete blocks. In the end it really works as a site.
