There's definitely room for head canon about the in-universe mechanism by which Spiderman gets a set and then suddenly there's a whole webload of notable spiderkin popping up around the multiverse. I think it's an interesting ontological problem.

The idea is that bosses and lesser monsters will drop "skills" alongside loot. Skills cannot be farmed and instead, are kind of like spells.

I already have the basic playable races, and I'll talk about them a little tomorrow.

i've since overcome my arachnophobia (mostly), and reached a tentative truce with the spiderkin.

Not arachnophobic myself, but I do certainly have a fascination with individuals who possess spidery and web-spinning abilities. That goes as well for driders and spiderkin. Even have my own spider demon character :p

I should add that I have since made peace with the spiderkin, and worked really hard on my internal arachnophobia. I don't kill them any more, and protect them from people who would.
