Love to have a government installing (ordinarily illegal in several different ways, yet no new laws have been passed!) spyware on all its citizens, very normal and legitimate part of a democracy this.
"ICE has also purchased spyware in recent weeks that enables it to remotely hack into smartphones and extract data, even if the phones are locked or communication is over encrypted apps."

A federal judge has granted WhatsApp a permanent injunction against NSO Group, preventing the spyware maker from targeting its users. The judge reduced NSO's fine from over $167 million to approximately $4 million, citing insufficient evidence of particularly egregious behavior.

TL;DR: A ruling has permanently barred NSO from targeting WhatsApp users with its Pegasus spyware, stating that bypassing end-to-end encryption undermines Meta's business.

There's so much going on behind the scenes with spyware and wide open network protocols that it will take a generation to rip it out. Like today's AWS outages (DNS) multiple protocols are antiquated and nowhere near secured. Tech oligarchs could have fixed it, gee I wonder why...

The whole place is gonna have to be razed like its 1947 after Trump leaves to get out the Spyware. So you know, eh.
